Plant Controller

Summary Description

Reports to divisional Plant Manager and will work closely on a day-to-day basis with the Plant Manager and divisional management team. Regular interaction with the Corporate Finance team.

• Work with the Plant Manager and site management team to develop and achieve long term financial objectives: support business decisions requiring a financial/business assessment.
• Establish accurate standard costs and inventory valuation for Manufacturing.
• Establish benchmarks against which to measure the performance of Company operations.
• Calculates and issues financial and operating metrics.
• Actively involved providing financial leadership for sales proposals.
• Ensure the completion of month-end close activities including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals and reporting. Maintains fixed asset and depreciation data.
• Coordinate and prepare monthly forecasting. Preparation of month end performance metrics.
• Prepare analyses for actual vs budget/forecast results monthly, including direct labor & material, labor reconciliation and utilization and OH monitoring. Communicate with division leadership to identify trends/corrective actions.
• Assist with the planning and execution of the physical inventory including analysis and reporting of results.
• Coordinate division data for audit and tax with corporate finance and external auditors.
• Manage the accounting staff to ensure success of all individuals in the department as well as achieving departmental goals and objectives.
• Ensure accounts payable are paid timely and accounts receivable collected promptly.
• Lead regulatory state and local tax compliance for division.
• Perform ad hoc projects and analyses as needed.

Requirements

• Manufacturing environment, cost accounting, general ledger reporting experience required.
• Candidates should have 8+ years’ of progressively responsible experience.
• Experience with Epicor Manufacturing ERP system a plus
• Experience with IQMS Manufacturing ERP system a plus
• Accounting/Financial degree
• Experience with Excel
• Able to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to communicate to groups of people and with individuals at all levels within the organization.
• Work as a team member with local team
• Experience with Governmental manufacturing contracts highly desirable.
• Strong analytical/critical thinking
• Work independently. Work with limited instruction. Must be comfortable learning processes on your own.
• Candidates must be a “US Person” (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)
