MEP Mechanical Designer

BBIX is a full service A-E firm with offices in Boston MA, Wilkes-Barre PA, and San Antonio, TX. BBIX’s is 100% contracted with the Federal government.

We are seeking a dedicated, passionate team member with strong individual design and problem solving skills for immediate opportunities as an MEP Designer/Drafter.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop detailed designs for mechanical equipment and controls.
• Provide details on component descriptions.
• Resolve design problems.
• Review and analyze specifications.
• Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications
• Draft technical details.
• Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures.
• Use Computer Aided Design and Drafting systems to prepare drawings.
• Prepare variations of design.
• Prepare engineering drawings that detail plans and specifications.
• Assist with preparation of construction drawings and construction detailing for contractors.
• Review building codes to assure that design complies with the minimum legal standards.
• Assist in the constructions administration phase by reviewing shop drawings and creating a master log of the project submittals.
• Assists the design team on projects from the Pre-Schematic Phase through Construction Documents.
• Editing, maintaining, and expanding REVIT details and library

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• MUST BE A US CITIZEN. NO EXCEPTIONS.
• At least 5 years of experience designing to various Federal Government (DoD, VA, GSA) standards and criteria.
• This position requires occasional travel to various job sites and to our branch offices. Must be willing/able to travel when necessary.
• Individual must have ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Associates, Bachelor or Master Degree in drafting or engineering.
• Ability to develop, communicate and present designs to their team.
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency with REVIT and AutoCAD is required.
