The Graduate Resident Coordinator (GRC) assists with the responsibility and accountability in providing leadership and management of two residence halls. The GRC is responsible for helping implement a comprehensive residential curriculum for student success by bolstering a robust living-learning community, fostering holistic growth and student development, assisting in retention efforts, fostering respect for diversity, and promoting community development, . Additional responsibilities include helping Student Life personnel provide opportunities for students to participate in social and community service activities.Essential functions include but are not limited to:* To effectively facilitate student and staff development, it is essential that the incumbent establish and maintain themselves as a visible presence in the residence halls and on campus, being approachable and accessible to residential students and all Housing & Residence Life staff.* Consistent with the University's Catholic identity and commitment to educate, develop and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students.* Assess, represent and articulate student needs to appropriate personnel.* Work closely with the Director of Housing & Residence Life to provide meaningful, educational, personal, recreational, and social activities and learning experiences in the residence halls and in collaboration with other departments on campus.* Advise and consult with residents regarding individual, social, and educational concerns and initiate appropriate referrals and programs.* Build and maintain an atmosphere of self-discipline and respect for others by upholding and enforcing university policies and the Honor Code.* Promote community development through self-governance and the student conduct process.* Respond to all incident reports efficiently and effectively to ensure the well-being and safety of residents and the maintenance of community standards.* Develop and implement a comprehensive selection, training and evaluation program for Resident Advisors.* Conduct roommate mediation conversations as needed.* Develop and promote an inclusive residential environment that promotes and celebrates diversity.* Assist with Resident Advisor training.* Assist with Desk Assistant training.* Assist with the Resident Advisor and Desk Assistant selection process.* Assist with housing selection preparation and implementation process.* Advise Residence Hall Association (RHA) student organization.* Sit on university-wide committees as needed.* Promote an inclusive residential environment and campus community that promotes diversity.* Utilize an outcomes assessment model in planning, executing, and evaluation all programs, training, and other learning experiences.* This position is designated as a Responsible Employee and Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is required to report incidents of sexual misconduct to the Title IX Coordinator.

A CSA is an individual, who by virtue of their university responsibilities and under the Clery Act, is designated to receive and report criminal incidents to the Department of Public Safety so that they may be included and published in the university's Annual Security Report.* Perform such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be required or assigned.Administrative and Managerial Responsibilities:* Prepare correspondence, reports, and maintain appropriate housing and residence life records as required or requested.* Respond to emergency situations efficiently and effectively to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.* Enforce University and Housing & Residence Life policies in a manner that promotes individual, personal, moral and social growth.* Provide supervision of residence halls at all times when students are in residence, including breaks, vacations, holidays, evenings and weekends.* Participate in the Professional on Duty (POD) rotation as assigned.* Assist in the facilitation of maintenance needs within the residence halls.* Assist in the housing selection and room assignment process for all returning and new students.* Assist in the coordination of all early move-ins/extensions to the residence hall contracts for the academic year.* Attend bi-weekly Housing & Resident Life staff meetings.* Supervise and meet one-on-one or in small groups weekly with all RAs* Assess all Housing & Residence Life programs and services on a regular basis.* Meet regularly with the Director of Housing & Residence Life.Housing Facilities Management:* Manage guest housing requests.* Manage all building operations and keys.* Assist in residence hall opening/closing procedures* Assist the Director of Housing & Residence Life in long term plans for renovation, refurbishing and capital improvements in the residence halls* Assist with efforts to examine and assure student safety and security including fire safety, emergency responses and crisis interventionProfessional Development:* Participate in workshops held by the Division of Student Life.* Serve on college committees and planning groups as requested and appropriate.* Performs such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be required or assigned.Qualifications:* Knowledge: Bachelor's Degree required. Must be enrolled in a graduate studies program at Notre Dame of Maryland University. Understanding of student development theory and how to translate theory to effective practice; best practices in student conduct, housing and residence life; counseling skills and basic administration skills.* Experience: One to two years of Residence Life live-in experience at the undergraduate level.* Skills/Aptitude: Administrative skills, supervisory skills, counseling skills, ability to effectively manage crisis, ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, and faculty.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.* Working Conditions: Normal office environment 20 hours/week, with twelve-month live-in position. Room and board provided; meal plan included when the dining hall is open. Serve on-call evenings (Person on Duty (POD)), weekends and holidays as part of a shared rotation schedule.

Must remain on campus at least one (1) weekend each month and notify all appropriate staff when absent from campus. Required POD training will be held the week before that start of each academic term.
