Civil Project Engineer

Participate as a team member in the design of site development projects including construction drawings, supporting calculations, specifications and construction administration for institutional, retail, commercial and many other sectors of the economy to support building construction projects. Mentor interns and graduate engineers.

Job Duties:

• Civil engineering tasks related to the development of new building construction projects including parking facilities, drainage infrastructure, underground utility infrastructure and more.
• Prepare well-coordinated, technically sound construction documents that are cost effective, efficient and constructible in a friendly work environment.
• Communicate and coordinate with architects, owners, other engineering disciplines, vendors, agency officials, other consultants, etc. throughout the design and construction phases of the building project.
• Direct support staff to meet project milestones and goals.
• Perform civil engineering related calculations including detention pond modeling, utility infrastructure, etc.
• Work with challenging and rewarding client schedules and internal design & construction administration time budgets.
• Office construction administration including review of shop drawing submittals, responding to “Requests for Information”, and coordination with contractors, design team, building/agency officials, developer, owner, etc., throughout the construction phase of the building project.

Job Requirements:

• Five (5) to Ten (10) Years’ Experience in Civil Engineering Design
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experienced & Efficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experienced with Autodesk Civil 3D design software.
• Experienced & Efficient in AutoCAD Drafting.
• Experienced & Efficient with site grading and surface drainage design.
• Experienced & Efficient with stormwater pond modeling software.
• Understanding of urban stormwater management procedures regarding pre-development and post-development comparisons.
• Understanding of stormwater run-off calculation methods including TR-55 and rational method.
• Understanding of Ohio EPA NPDES permitting for construction site stormwater and stormwater pollution prevention (SWPP) plans.
• FE/EIT a plus.
• PE license an additional plus.
• Capable of attending and engaging in meetings with clients, owners, contractors, etc. in a positive and productive manner.
• Possess a good work ethic and be efficient in job duties.
• Work diligently to meet project deadlines and client demands.

Thorson Baker + Associates offers a flexible starting time:

8.5 or 9 hours Monday -Thursday

4 or 6 hours Fridays.
