Job Description

Location: 1125 Spectra Ct Kernersville NC 27284

Reports to: Warping and Weaving Manager

Shift: 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.; must be able to train on 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. shift

Number of Openings: 2

Pay: $21.79/hour

Travel: Some travel to Cheraw, South Carolina Restricted Area may be required. Travel will be handled by the company.

Hiring Requirements:

  • Not seniority position, interview with Department Manager and/or Plant Manager required.
  • Due to visits to Restricted Area, candidates must be US Citizens at this time.
  • Must satisfactorily pass math test (70 or higher).


Summary:
Operator will support all aspects of production at the Spectra Ct. Warping and Weaving facility. Duties will be assigned by a manger/supervisor and can include any of the aspects of the job listed below.

Ability to demonstrate proficiency at all aspects of the job within a defined amount of time is a requirement of the job. Failure to demonstrate proficiency within the specified timeline will result in termination. Additional detail will be discussed in the interview process.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Support all aspects of warping and weaving production such as but not limited to what is described below.
  2. Perform warping operator duties such as but not limited to:
    1. Loading creel – 5 to 20 lbs yarn packages
    2. Tie in packages
    3. Set up creel and warper for operation
    4. Thread up eye board and reed
    5. Verify quality during operation
    6. Record key process parameters at specified intervals
    7. Use the computer system to enter process specific information and generate labels
    8. Load and unload warp beams
  3. Perform weaving operator duties such as but not limited to:
    1. Set machine parameters according to weaving data sheet
    2. Perform style changes including pattern change
    3. Load loom beams and unload finished fabric
    4. Verify quality during weaving operation
    5. Verify machine efficiency during weaving operation
    6. Repair mechanical stops
    7. Flag defects when deemed necessary
    8. Maintain specified paperwork.
    9. Use computer system to enter process specific information and generate labels
  4. Perform fixing operator duties such as but not limited to:
    1. Lead and/or assist repairs during machine break down events
    2. Troubleshoot machine related problems
  5. Perform inspection operator duties such as but not limited to:
    1. Load and unload finished rolls.
    2. Identify defects according to the inspection standard.
    3. Log defects into the inspection computer system and generate roll maps
    4. Use the computer system to enter process specific information and generate labels
  6. Perform warehouse operator duties such as but not limited to:
    1. Ability to drive a forklift (or willing to learn)
    2. Ability to operate a pallet jack
    3. Deliver raw materials to production areas
    4. Pick up finished goods and store in designated locations
    5. Use a handheld scanner to locate raw materials and finished goods
    6. Interface with computer system to find raw materials or finished goods
    7. Use the computer system to enter process specific information and generate labels
    8. Load trucks
  7. Perform tie in operator duties such as but not limited to:
    1. Lease out loom after warp out
    2. Remove empty beam and replace with a full beam
    3. Operate an automatic tying machine
    4. Manually tie in ends
    5. Pull through knots and start up machine

  8. Perform draw in / entering operator duties such as but not limited to:
    1. Drawing patterns – threading through drop wires, harnesses, and reed
    2. Follow data sheet to ensure proper characteristics of the pattern
    3. Install leases
    4. Repair warps
    5. Replace damaged reeds on weaving machine
  9. Perform Lab operator duties such as but not limited to:
    1. Testing according to the test plan.
    2. Operate various lab equipment such as an Instron, yarn reel, twist tester, ruler, pick glass, etc.
    3. Enter data into Excel or lab database
    4. Maintain lab records
    5. Communicate testing deficiencies to a supervisor and/or other operators
  10. Maintain good house keeping of the entire production floor.
  11. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor/manager.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED, or relevant experience.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math: adding, subtracting, multiplication, rounding, and percentages. Must be able to read a ruler. Must pass math test.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Operators must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, including above shoulder height. Pushing/pulling/lifting loads 25 to 75 lbs. is infrequent but applicable. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment is indoors with a combination of conditioned and unconditioned spaces. Certain uncontrolled areas of the plant will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Hearing protection will be required in a majority of the production areas. Safety glasses will be required at specific areas within the production area. Dress code will be the same as the KV MFG facility. The site will be secure, requiring a key card to gain access. The employee will not be permitted to leave the building while on the clock.


Smoking/vaping at the Spectra Ct. site is prohibited. Leaving the building while on the clock, smoking/vaping on the premises, or not complying with safety rules will result in disciplinary action including termination.
