Who We Are Looking For:

At ANM The Low Voltage Journeyman Lead Technician will act as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for structured cabling and other low voltage / special system projects. The Lead tech’s task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.

What will you be doing as a Lead Technician:

  • The Lead Technician will consistently run project crews; assume responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training; assume responsibility for adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines and hold weekly safety meetings; initiate performance-related communications and escalate to the Installation Manager if necessary.
  • The Lead Technician coordinates with the Installation Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with the project budget.
  • The Lead Technician completes all internal paperwork, and project updates daily through Procore and completes project paperwork accurately and on time (specifically timesheets, RFIs, work orders, change orders, and others as required).
  • The Lead Technician will perform quality checks on the project to ensure the crews are adhering to any local building codes, BICSI / ANSI standards, and customer specifications, prepare deliverable documentation (red-lined as-built drawings, cable charts, test reports) to provide the Project Manager; prepare red-lined as-built drawings.
  • The Lead Technician serves as the main on-site customer contact for questions and/or concerns; and participates in facility, safety, coordination, and construction meetings when required.
  • The Lead Technician performs work consistently with his crew demonstrating a detailed level of technical knowledge; and troubleshooting skills and is experienced in resolving technical issues as they arise.
  • Notify the operations team of any project delays onsite or issues on the projects so that they can update the project stakeholders.
  • Work with the operations team to formulate a plan to minimize the cost impact and bring the project under budget when it is determined that a project is going over budget.
  • Low voltage pathway installation
  • Installation and pulling communications, security, and DAS cabling.
  • Termination, certification, and troubleshooting cabling.
  • Installation of security and communication equipment and devices.
  • Installation of low voltage control panels and power supplies.
  • Configuration, and start-up of security systems.
  • Installation of door hardware, locks, strikes, request to exit devices.
  • The Lead Technician will complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • The Lead Technician must be self-motivated, a problem solver, positive in approach, professional, and help create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s).
  • The Lead Technician must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
  • The Lead Technician must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • The Lead Technician must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentation(s).
  • The Lead Technician must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder, and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds.
  • The Lead Technician must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • The Lead Communications Technician must be able to travel within the branch territory or regional territory as needed. This will entail overnight stays.
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field.
  • Must be able to terminate fiber and category rated cabling.
  • Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Must know the universal communications color codes.
  • Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.

Required education, technical skills and/or experience:

  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • ES3J, or ES7J
  • BICSI Installer Level II Copper or Fiber preferred.
  • BICSI TE-350 preferred
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record

Working Conditions:

The standard work environment for this position is an indoor business office and construction environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear, use hands, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. The employee may also be required to work in tight, confined spaces. The physical demands described here represent those that must be met to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Travel:

Travel may be required for this position. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and motor vehicle insurance.
