Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor’s primary focus is to lead and support a production team in achieving excellence in Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost to ensure customer satisfaction.  Working in close communication with the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor will lead projects, people, and timelines.

• The Production Supervisor will be able to perform all the duties and tasks expected of an A Machinist.
• Lead daily production:
  • Daily production dialogs with the production team.
  • Provide input and communicate production schedules to the team.  Provide input on schedule adjustments.
  • Provide input and communicate manpower shortages and manpower movement within & between teams.
  • Must be able to process new jobs from start to finish.  This includes machine selection, tool selection, fixturing, programming and/or mentoring others in programming.
  • Identify and help resolve daily production related issues for safety, quality, delivery, processes, equipment, fixturing, tooling, layout, etc.
  • Ensure parts/materials are supplied to processes.
  • Confirm quality of Team Members work by completing routine checks using standard quality tools/ machines.
• Drive continuous improvement:
  • Maintain and improve SMC standard work.
  • Mentor and train employees to improve job specific skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Drive cross training initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Recognition of positive team member contributions.
  • Facilitate small group activities.
• Provide input for employee performance reviews and participate in new hire interviews.
• Any other duties as assigned by management.

 Education:

• High School diploma or GED required.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with preference for experience in a team-based work environment. 

Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong understanding of Lean principles and production processes. Good PC skills, ability to provide directions to employees, good verbal/written communication skills, good time management skills, excellent problem solving and continuous improvement skills.  Training including problem solving, quick change over, GD&T, safety, Gibbs a real plus.

Working Conditions:

• Shop and office environments.
• Position is onsite, Monday- Friday, 8-hour days with some overtime as needed.
• Most work must be performed on site during normal SMC business hours.
• Reports directly to the Plant Manager
