The person will have experience developing innovative and complex software systems in the medical device space, a strong technical foundation in IOS and android device applications as well as cloud-based application development. This top performer that we are looking to bring on board has a demonstrated history of leading product development teams using Agile methodologies to execute on plan, will have great program management skills, and understands how to manage in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate for this highly visible opportunity will have a background in developing medical device software platforms, with expert-level design control, project management, and product development experience. They must demonstrate an inspirational and collaborative leadership style. This senior-level Engineer will lead complex technical design and development activities, collaborate with senior and junior staff to execute tasks, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve success.
Principal Responsibilities:
- This Senior Software Engineer (Sr Engineer) position will contribute to the design, implementation and verification of software for one or more of the projects we are bringing to market.
- It is a hands-on role that may include all aspects of device software development: firmware and software, algorithm development and optimization, image processing, and application development including knowledge of software architecture including cloud-based architecture.
- Software analysis, planning, design, implementation, and verification of novel medical devices that consists of hardware control, data acquisition, signal/image processing, display, and post processing of medical images.
- Work collaboratively with researchers and application development engineers in all software development phases.
- Design and code medical-grade software that meets the defined software requirements and Design Inputs.
- Thorough knowledge of medical device standards such as IEC62304, ISO14971, IEC60601.
- Create documentation adhering to quality procedures, regulations, standards and industry best practices under Design Control.
- Contribute to product requirement development and risk management reviews.
- Work effectively in cross-functional teams consisting of Research, Engineering, QA/RA, and Marketing.
- Keep abreast of relevant and new technologies in the medical device field.
- Report progress regularly to Management.
Qualifications:
- BS in Systems/Software Engineering or directly related scientific discipline; advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 5-7 years Software product development experience required.
- Strong preference for experience with class II medical devices.
- Demonstrated history of theoretical and applied understanding of software design.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, domestically & internationally (US & EU).
