The Waterfront Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the waterfront department including the rentals, fuel, and slips (where applicable).
Essential duties and responsibilities
Staff Training/Personnel
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training of each new and current waterfront employee from their first day and throughout the season
Responsible for training all waterfront employee on proper waterfront procedures and SOP’s relating to the gas dock, rental department, and rental slips (where applicable)
Ensure all Waterfront employees have the capability of safely and properly executing all operations and tasks on the gas dock and rental department
Conduct waterfront meetings to ensure proper communication throughout the team
Responsible for keeping up with disciplinary actions throughout the staff with the HR department and Waterfront Director
Responsible for creating/overseeing weekly waterfront schedule
Fuel
Responsible for price checking and ordering fuel in timely fashions daily while the waterfront department is in season
Responsible for the thorough gas dock training of all staff to ensure safety for all employees and customers
Responsible for communicating any repairs necessary to the fuel tank and equipment immediately
Recommend fuel prices based on the current market and suppliers pricing
Ensure customers are provided exceptional customer service while visiting the fuel dock
Slips
Responsible for maintaining an accurate a slip seniority list, as well as slip waiting list
Recommend seasonal slip pricing
Collect payment annually from current and new slip customers
Ensure slip customers are provided with excellent customer service
Rentals
Responsible for the overall operations and sales of the rental department
Responsible for assisting and overseeing the reservation process
Responsible for assisting and overseeing the rental orientation process with customers – from the rental contract to showing the boat
Ability to properly demonstrate and train both employees and customers on the proper and safe use of all rental equipment and boats
Responsible for declining a rental customer if they do not pass the driving test and make judgment calls in order to protect our department, company, customers, and employees
Responsible for executing and overseeing the damage process including checking boats in, generating damage quotes, working with the local service department, and collecting payment for damages sustained
Responsible for following all waterfront SOP’s, as well as assist in the creation/adjustment of SOP’s, procedures, and policies
Oversee preventive maintenance and cleanliness of all rental boats on a frequent basis
Actively communicate maintenance and upkeep needs for all rental boats local Service Manager
Improve rental processes such as the damage process, timeliness in getting boats out and returned, maintenance and cleaning scheduling, etc.
Responsible for ensuring all rental areas are tidy and appealing to customers
Recommend pricing for rental boats and gear
Responsible for coordinating and scheduling rental pick up/drop offs with service department and waterfront employees if rentals are traveling elsewhere
Responsible for the retirement of rental boats post-season through following SOP’s and working with the local sales team/Waterfront Director
Assist with the ordering of rental boats for upcoming seasons, recommend boat quantities, models, etc.
Ensure exceptional customer service is provided to all rental department customers
Promote future boat rentals to all rental customers through end of year incentives, post season discounts, “review us” discounts, etc.
Set high expectations for customer service and operational performance and achieve them
Responsible for sending daily shift reports to the Waterfront Director, communicating sales projections and any important incidences within the waterfront department
Work side by side with the marketing team to continually promote the rental department
Continuously brainstorm new ideas to increase sales
Work side by side with all local Tommy’s departments – sales, pro shop, service – to ensure proper and consistent communication throughout the team
Interface with customers, vendors, and other business units
Uphold all laws, standards and regulations that apply to the businesses
Maintain a safe work environment through training, audits, and continuous improvements
Develop a business that customers want to visit
Any other task as requested by supervisor

Trailering: Ability to safely and effectively trailer boats between different locations. Ability to properly launch boats at various different lakes and marinas
Travel: Ability to travel to other local lakes and marinas and assist/train customers on proper rental boat use

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: minimum of 2 years waterfront experience preferred
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office experience required.
Drug Test: pass a thorough drug test required
Boater’s License: obtain a valid boater’s license required
Driver’s License: obtain a valid drivers license required. Pass a thorough MVR and obtain MVR acceptance by Tommy’s insurance company
Background Test: pass a thorough background test required
Characteristics: Posses humility, willingness to serve, and the ability to teach. Clearly convey a passion for the business, the customers and the team members
