New Construction/Renovation Superintendent Job Description 

New Orleans based General Contractor seeking a highly skilled, detailed oriented and motivated Construction Superintendent to join their dynamic team. As a Construction Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing large scale Residential New Construction and Renovation projects.  This position requires a strong combination of leadership, organizational, and technical skills, as well as a deep understanding of the Construction process. 

 

Responsibilities of the Construction Superintendent:

 

  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to on-site construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenses, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Oversee the implementation of quality control measures to ensure work meets industry standards and client expectations.
  • Develop and maintain construction schedules. 
  • Proactively identify and resolve construction related issues, implementing effective solutions to keep the project on track.
  • Daily Logs and up to date documentation during the construction process 
  • Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, consultants, inspectors, and vendors to complete each project on time.
  • Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project.
  • Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute his job duties effectively and efficiently.
  • Perform inspections or schedule inspectors to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job location.
  • Set an example in keeping the job site organized and clean. 
  • Verify and confirm material lead times and purchase orders as needed to maintain an efficient schedule. 
  • Verify that all required materials, fixtures, etc., are on the job when needed, including any items supplied by the Homeowner.
  • Perform job progress reports and completion of punch lists.  

 

Qualifications of the Renovation Superintendent:

 

  • Experience and Education - Minimum of 4 years construction experience, thorough knowledge of trades, and be computer literate. Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) is preferred. Experience in Construction Management Software (i.e., Buildertrend) is a plus. Strong knowledge of New Construction/Renovation processes and building codes. Must be able to read and interpret construction plans. 

·       Physical Demands - Endurance and ability to visit entire job sites on their feet most of the day; endure extreme heat and cold weather conditions; climbing stairs or other elevated structures; lift up to 100 lbs.; Climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
