Chemical Technician

PRINICIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Production and preparation of Dreve formulations for immediate use in commercial 3D printing applications.

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY:

Must be able to perform job functions independently and as a team. Plan own work schedule in accordance with established priorities and procedures requiring regular attention. Responsible for sound judgment, thoroughness and competence in execution of work duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work full-time, Monday-Friday, in a resin manufacturing environment while using and operating heavy equipment for mixing, bottling, labeling, and shipping of Dreve resins. This person will also oversee the quality technician who will be able to assist with various tasks as well as all quality assurance testing of the final product or retention lots.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Monitor chemical mixing processes and test quality of production formulations to ensure that quality standards are met prior to release
2. Set up, operate, and maintain manufacturing equipment and test equipment
3. Prepare formulations for bottling and shipping to various locations
4. Keep and maintain retention lots for identification and quality purposes
5. Responsible for purchasing and testing of raw materials to ensure production deadlines can be met
6. Prioritize work to meet production deadlines and align with material volume requirements
7. Keep complete and accurate records of production times, measurements, techniques, procedures followed or performed, and final quality results of production lots
8. Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the manufacturing site
9. Observe and maintain compliance with safety and security procedures
10. Learn and utilize ISO 13485/CFR Title 21 regulations for medical device compliance

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. May have to work additional hours to meet production deadlines or troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes
2. Ensure global regulatory compliance of raw materials
3. Test retention lots for customer support purposes
4. Collaborate with R&D team to solve issues within manufacturing or quality of final product

QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES:

Required

1. Associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Process Engineering, or Manufacture Engineering
2. Must have initiative and communication skills to work with all levels and multinationals
3. Fluency in written and spoken English
4. Must be quality and result oriented with a high sense of responsibility
5. Must be computer-literate preferably on Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
6. Must be able to lift 50+ pounds 
7. Must be able to travel to Germany for occasional training

Preferred

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Process Engineering, or Manufacture Engineering 
2. Familiarity with ISO 13485/CFR Title 21
3. Previous equipment operating experience
4. Previous chemical mixing experience
5. Previous experience in free-radical UV polymerization
