Position Summary

This position’s primary responsibilities will include facilitating and completing the month and year end close, perform monthly analytical procedures relevant to company’s balance sheet, revenue, expenses, or other non-financial data and preparation of monthly internal and external financial statements based on prescribed reporting requirements with funding and/or regulatory entities and working closely with the Director of Accounting to oversee and maintain the general ledger.

 

Responsibilities

1. Facilitate and complete month/year end close, including scheduling and preparation of monthly and year end journal entries. Coordinate month and year end close with other finance or non-finance staff to ensure timely completion based on prescribed deadlines.

2. Assist with the integration of various non-financial accounting systems with the financial accounting system in order to maximize process efficiencies. 

3. Assist with the standardization of internal and external financial reports generated from the financial accounting system, should be accomplished through utilization of the financial accounting system functionality. 

4. Analyze and research financial statement fluctuations, compile financial/non-financial information from internal/external data sources, and perform complex revenue and expense reconciliations. 

5. Identify problems related to financial transaction impacting the operations of the organization, provide recommendations for corrective action and implement solutions. 

6. Prepare and examine expenditures reports, assist in preparation of financial statements, perform budget variance analysis and prepare historical trends analysis for program directors, management and granting agencies. 

7. Compile ad-hoc financial and business analysis as requested by controller or as requested from functional departments. 

8. Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate complex accounting projects, perform special financial and business analytical tasks as assigned by the controller. 

9. Provide technical expertise, advice and direct oversight/supervision of other departmental accountants and personnel; serve as a liaison and support to operations.

10. Participate in developing budgets for assigned accounts, and work with the director of budgeting in preparation of annual operating budgets. 

11. Prepare and maintain account balance reconciliation for assigned balance sheet and/or income statement accounts. 

12. Assist with the review of various month and year end account balance reconciliation, including direct review of monthly journal entries. 

13. Assist with the preparation of month end board package, including write-up of balance sheet and income statement fluctuations and budget variances. 

14. Assist with the coordination and completion of annual financial statement and compliance audits. 

15. Assist with the review and redevelopment of the company’s current internal control structure within finance, including formalized documentation of the control structure. 

16. Including monitoring of external filing requirements to ensure financial reporting deadlines are met. 

17. Supervises and evaluates the performance of senior accountant; interview and selects employees and recommends personnel actions; plans, coordinates and arranges for appropriate training as needed. 

18. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Requirements

1. Bachelors degree in Accounting, finance or business or another related field required; CPA highly desirable. 

2. Minimum five years of ever-increasing relevant finance/accounting experience also required. 

3. Experience in managing accounting professionals a requirement.
