Production Manager

Summary
This experienced leader is responsible for roughly twenty 1st shift production personnel and the manufacture-to-order process for Refractory Coatings and Sleeves operations. They drive processing excellence through our production team with a passion for safety, quality, organization, cleanliness, customer focus, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has success in hands-on learning, training, and developing personnel towards a vision of world-class manufacturing in a growth environment. Experience with chemicals management is preferred.
Requirements:Essential Functions
1. Maintains a clean, safe work environment with a focus on hazard reduction, sustained regulatory compliance and team compliance to operating and safety procedures.
2. Responsible for production scheduling, utilizing ORSOFT and the equipment maintenance planning and execution to meet customer demand.
3. Manages the performance of the hourly production workforce, working with HR to develop and support the plant team to their potential through individual development plans, training programs and processes, in accordance with established policies.
4. Responsible for root cause investigations and subsequent action item completion related to EH&S and quality non-conformances.
5. Lead problem solving efforts and resolve roadblocks to meet short and long-term production goals including resource allocation, working with Plant Superintendent.
6. Coordinates with Plant Buyer to ensure proper inventory levels of raw materials and PPE for associates.
7. Actively engages in continuous improvement efforts for the department and planning for future Capex requirements.
8. Communicates effectively with Sales, Marketing and Customer Service teams to achieve customer expectations.
Skills
1. Communicates effectively both written and oral.
2. Strong background in EH&S.
3. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
4. Possesses strong organizational skills and project management experience.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong team player with ability to lead others.
6. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and able to become proficient in SAP transactions related to our manufacturing operations.
Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. 5-years of manufacturing leadership experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises hourly production personnel.
Work Environment
Spends time sitting and working on a computer but will also spend a significant amount of time daily, in the plant where appropriate PPE is required.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, climbing, crouching, sitting for long periods of time in a manufacturing environment.
- Can be successfully fitted for a respirator as required and able to wear PPE in accordance with site policies.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Travel
No travel required for this role. Occasional offsite training may be required.
