Title: Paralegal

Location: Washington, DC (Onsite with possibility of remote later)

Duration: Multi-year contract

Start date: May/June

Clearance: Public Trust (DHS preferred, if not we will process for one)

Travel: Onsite in DC with ability to travel to support case work as required. Some travel requirements may be outside of the USA.

Summary

  • Paralegal to support the team in full lifecycle support from investigations through the judicial process. Core skill sets include, but are not limited to:
  • Knowledgeable in reading, editing, and writing legal documents.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; solid working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; comfort or knowledge of web applications.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to manage and maintain accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to add, subtract, and review basic budgeting/financial documents.
  • Ability to be an effective team worker; ability to work under pressure; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Functional Skill Set Required
  • Manages proactive research assignments or studies focused on specific geographic and functional foreign language areas of interest to investigations, to include research into emerging illicit financial platforms.
  • Drafts requests for information, subpoena riders and other legal orders for review and submission to applicable USAO districts.
  • Conducts in-depth legal research on multi-jurisdictional practice, privacy, cybersecurity, and laws/regulations from various jurisdictions.
  • Assists in monitoring and ensuring organizational compliance with internal policies and procedures across case structures.
  • Monitors legal orders through both criminal and civil processes, reviews filings of a full lifecycle process for accuracy, action requirements and agency equities.
  • Participates in case coordination meetings and prepares interagency documents for submission to other agency related programs
  • Compiles financial and budgetary documents and produce analytical summaries and audit documents.
  • Compiles investigative reports and findings associated with victim losses from investigative case files

Technical Skill Set Required
  • N/A - Basic Office software communication tools

Work Experience
  • 5+ years' experience in legal support to include drafting and reviewing judicial orders (REQUIRED)
  • Experience working with a prosecutorial agency or department with work experience preferred at a prosecutor's office at the federal, state or local level (PREFERRED)
  • Experience in supporting investigative agencies with cyber-related crimes or alternative money laundering mechanisms to include the illicit use of digital assets (PREFERRED)
  • Experience and knowledge of asset forfeiture processes and principles (PREFERRED)

Education or Certifications Required
  • Bachelors Degree (BA or BS) preferred
