Job Description
The Paralegal Technology Adjunct provides quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations in the Associate in Applied Science - Paralegal Technology degree, diploma, and certificate programs. This individual has responsibility for teaching and learning, curriculum development, advising, professional development, institutional service, and community relations.
Essential Duties Summary
โ€ข Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College's mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services
โ€ข Develop learning strategies and curriculum that will promote successful teaching and learning in a learning-centered environment
โ€ข Facilitate learning through classroom activities, distance learning experiences, workforce development, and out-of-classroom activities
โ€ข Actively participate in continuous improvement planning through the assessment of learning outcomes at the course and program levels
โ€ข Select and use appropriate learning materials and resources, including textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency
โ€ข Stay current with developments in the field of technology and learning theory
โ€ข Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in accordance with the philosophy of a learning-centered college
โ€ข Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community
โ€ข Develop strong partnerships with appropriate community stakeholders in support of program and college improvement
โ€ข Participate in program reviews, conduct research and surveys, and prepare updates, reports, and plans
โ€ข Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college
โ€ข Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
โ€ข Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
โ€ข Accept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or in a corrections setting (Anson county)
โ€ข Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online
โ€ข Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities
โ€ข Participate in or support the mentoring process, the SPCC Foundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the dean, or the Vice President of Academic Affairs
Required Qualifications
โ€ข Juris Doctor Degree
โ€ข One year experience practicing law and/or teaching law
โ€ข Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
โ€ข Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Minimum of the equivalent of one academic year of full-time teaching experience at the post-secondary level
โ€ข Previous experience with online instruction via a course management system such as Moodle
โ€ข Knowledge and/or experience with learning outcomes assessment
โ€ข Demonstrated and documented innovation within the field of education and/or technology
