Senior Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller

Job Summary:
The Senior Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller role is a vital accounting team member and instrumental in supporting the month-end closing process. Position responsibilities include recording journal entries, maintaining account reconciliation schedules, supervising clerical staff, filing liquor & sales tax returns, and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. In addition, this role will be responsible for documenting policies and procedures and helping to identify opportunities for improving current accounting functions.

Essential Functions:
•    Prepares financial statements.
•    Report/present and analyze financial performance against budget.
•    Experience with financial close processes.
•    Prepares journal entries and monitors accruals.
•    Reconciles and analyzes accounts.
•    Monitors internal controls.
•    Assists in drafting annual budgets.
•    Trains Accounting staff and conducts performance evaluations.
•    Assists with preparation for internal and external audits.
•    Prepares various reports as requested.

Required Education and Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
•    5+ years’ experience in accounting 
•    CPA preferred. 
•    Proficient in MS Office with strong Excel skills 
•    Familiar with ERP accounting systems and project management
•    Excellent attention to detail
•    Collaborative colleague
•    Great organizational and communication skills
•    Familiar with the full-cycle accounting process
•    Able to handle confidential information appropriately.

Physical Requirements:
•    Able to work in an office environment and lift up to 25 pounds.
