Job Description

We are seeking an experienced accounting professional with a “can-do” attitude interested in growing their career. As Badgerland’s Senior Accountant, you will be a critical member of the accounting team responsible for managing our general ledger, financial statement preparation, and collaborating with multiple departments to help grow the organization. Your key areas of responsibility include general ledger, financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and member support.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end close process including preparation and posting of journal entries; complete key balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial statement package including summary and department-level budget variance analysis. Generate other ad-hoc reports as needed.
  • Supervise Accountant I position.
  • Maintain chart of accounts.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to complete year-end audit and council tax returns.
  • Conduct an annual review of troop bank accounts.
  • Work with the Community Engagement team on the banking aspect of new troop set-up.
  • Partner with the Entrepreneurial Experience team to effectively manage accounts receivable associated with product sales.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of best practice policies and procedures as they relate to all aspects of accounting.
  • Provide back-up support to accounting team members as needed.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Other combinations of education with relevant experience that demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience preferably in a not-for-profit organization.
  • Computer savvy and possess experience using Microsoft Office, MIP Fund Accounting, Microix, Asana, NetSuite, and Hybris.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Possess excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, management, and decision-making skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a bias towards execution and action.
  • Skilled relationship builder with a demonstrated ability to motivate and collaborate effectively across every level of the organization.
  • A proactive team player willing to pitch in at all levels while holding a big-picture, systems-thinking mindset.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be or become a registered member of the Girls Scouts of the United States of America; have a working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming, and be committed to the Girl Scout mission. Prior Girl Scout experience not required.


Other Requirements

  • Must be able to occasionally work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Anticipated time away from office is 25%.
  • Possess a valid drivers’ License and proof of insurance.
  • Must be able to work both in an office setting and independently off-site.


Physical Requirements

  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Operate office equipment manually.
    • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.

Salary: $65,000-$75,000


Expected hours: 37.5 per week

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Evening shift as needed
