Waste Water Treatment Plan Operator, Meter Reader / Maintenance Worker

The County of Greene seeks qualified applicants for the following positions:

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (Full-Time) for the Water and Sewer Department. Responsible for assigned sewage treatment and solids handling operation during work shift; adjusts wastewater flows, pumping rates, chemical feed rates and other process variables as required; collects samples, performs field test and measurements, and performs laboratory tests and analyses as required; performs algebraic computations and records data on the daily operations sheets as required; supervises and is responsible for operator assistant as assigned; inspects machinery and pumps and performs maintenance assignments as required; becomes familiar with SOP materials and all aspects of wastewater treatment operations; becomes familiar with Greene County Water and Sewer safety procedures and policies and responsible for their implementation. High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Considerable experience (two or more years) as a Wastewater Plant Operator. Must hold a Virginia Class II Wastewater Operator License. Salary range is $40,160 - $64,203. Salary DOQ.

Meter Reader/Maintenance Worker (Full-Time) for the Water and Sewer Department. Performs semi-skilled work traveling to and conducting meter readings on customer and business meters, collecting and recording meter data, entering information into databases, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of Water and Sewer Director. High school diploma or GED and minimal experience assisting customers with meter reading inquiries, performing meter readings, collecting data, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Salary range is $29,969 - $47,909. Salary DOQ.

Equipment Operator (Full-Time) for the Solid Waste Facility. Performs intermediate semi-skilled work operating heavy equipment in the operation and maintenance of the solid waste facility, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Solid Waste Manager. Operates a front-end loader, bobcat, and/or tractor trailer to load and move trash to proper location; estimates weight per load of trash; removes and replaces full containers ready for baling; hooks and unhooks trailers and moves trucks to designated site. Salary range $38,248 - $61,146. Salary DOQ.

Office Clerk (Part-Time) for the Greene County Park and Recreation Department. Performs skilled administrative support work providing a variety of administrative and office support functions, answering phones and assisting the public. Minimum requirements are high school diploma or GED certification. Starting hourly rate is $12.00 - $13.50. Salary DOQ.
