As Lift Operations Supervisor you will assists with the supervision of all aspects in the Winter Lift Operations and/or Summer Attractions departments: safety awareness, standards compliance, guest services and team development are key. You will help develop and carry out company and department goals to the leadership group and staff. You will also establish and maintain close working relationships with; Lift Maintenance, Ski Patrol, Ticket Scanning, Ski/Ride School, and encourage good relationships with all other departments!
Job Specifications
Housing: Currently taking applications.
Starting Wage: $15 / per hour
Effective October 2022 minimum wage will be increased to $20/hour.
Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time, Required to work all season including weekends and holidays as assigned.
Skill Level: Supervisory/Advanced
Other Specifics: Work outdoors in various weather conditions that can be very inclement. Temperatures ranging from below zero and up.
Job Responsibilities
Coordinate Supervisors and Training to operate within all applicable codes and standards: UDOT, ANSI, OSHA regulations and Vail Resorts lift operations policies and procedures.
Work with the Manager in owning the lift operations management team through the development and implementation of all vital department programs to provide for: staffing, training, safety, goal setting, employee performance, employee retention and incentive, payroll, work comp, code compliance and record keeping.
Be responsible for the department in the Manager’s absence.
Resolve guest complaints/issues and employee issues.
Work in conjunction with manager in completion of employee performance evaluations on lift operations supervisory group.
Participate with Health and Safety departments to develop uniform policies and safety initiatives.
Work well with all resort and corporate departments as it pertains to lift operations and ensure work breaks are being given on time to lift personnel in assigned zone.
Assist Lift Maintenance and Ski Patrol with emergency lift evacuations as needed.
Assist the Manager with mentoring and performance reviews and input timesheets into payroll software. Supervise dept. labor.
Participate in leadership development classes and foster learning opportunities for the Leads.
Providing leadership, promoting team spirit and cooperative work ethics; providing the most outstanding examples of friendly, cooperative relationships with our guests, other staff and within the Lift Team.
Ensuring accurate and complete documentation of lift logs, accident and maintenance forms.
All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PeopleSoft & Success Factors
English proficiency, both written and verbal
Must have previous lift experience in a fast-paced, high volume, year-round mountain resort
Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and/or evenings as vital.
Physical Requirements
Working at Drive Stations, running certain machines/tools so that you will have to raise your voice to be heard
Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, hear, see, repetitive motions, carry, as needed for most of your workday
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years Lift Operations experience
Minimum of 3 years supervising others
Excellent conflict resolution skills
Experience managing a team of lift operations staff in a ski and boarding learning area is an asset
Ability to set the standard in the industry for efficient, safe operation
The budgeted range starts at $15 / per hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
