Salary: $30.49 - $36.44/HR - 35 Hours per Week

Location: Naughton, ON

POSITION SCOPE:

Through the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek Community Support Hub the Family Violence Prevention Worker will provide inclusive supports to empower Indigenous women, men, children, youth, families, 2SLGBTQQIA+ by receiving wholistic approached counselling, addiction assessments, mental health and addiction services and after-care services and prevention and promotion programming.

The Family Violence Prevention Worker will be part of the Outreach Team who will invite members to the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek Hub to improve/enhance access to cultural, health and social services in or outside the community.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in a Social Work
  • College Diploma in Social/Health Sciences and/or
  • 5 years' work experience in social/health settings
  • Possess experience and/or understand the impacts of violence within the family unit.
  • CPIC (Vulnerable Sector) - must be provided at the time of employment offer

  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Ability to provide basic Counselling services
  • Excellent Facilitation skills
  • Efficient Time management skills and organizational skills in an office setting
  • Excellent Customer service skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, administration and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and positive use of conflict management
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential subject matter
  • Knowledge and experience in case management
  • Knowledge of health promotions and education

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide assistance to individual(s) or families through the case management model
  • Provide intakes and assessments and develop plans of care for clients,
  • Provide one to one supportive counseling using a Holistic Approach: combination of Traditional and conventional support,
  • Topics will include Boundaries, Self-esteem & Compassion, Relationships, Forgiveness & Feelings and more,
  • Greet visitors, ascertain nature of business and direct visitors to the CAO and/or appropriate person(s)
  • Greet telephone and electronic inquiries; and relay telephone calls and messages
  • Exchange information about ongoing work with co-workers and colleagues
  • Interact with the Chief Administrative Officer on a regular basis; clarify tasks, schedule appointments, discuss work processes
  • Develop and facilitate therapeutic support groups The Family Violence Prevention Worker will facilitate and/or partner with an outside organization to provide sessions for a group of participants to provide Information, support, and guidance (# of groups to be determined),
  • Complete referrals & provide Advocacy Services to improve access to Community Services. Work together with Community Services and Women to better service their needs,
  • Report to the Health Programs Manager
  • Complete annual workplan and budget
  • Complete monthly and annual reporting requirements of program and agreement(s)
  • Participate in health staff meetings, organizational meetings, program planning meetings, etc.
