Job Description

Role:

Reporting to the Strategic Director of IT, the Business Systems Specialist-GIS (BSS-GIS) is the primary resource and lead for all of our ArcGIS Enterprise based GIS needs, providing production support, defect remediation and enhancement The BSS-GIS works closely with IT Team members, analysts and project teams to understand business needs (desired outcomes) and turn them into solutions. With the understanding of the business the BSS-GIS will strive to continually improve business systems and processes. In support of this, the BSS-GIS participates in the education and training of the organization on the use of systems and data.

Responsibilities:

· Provides primary production support for our GIS applications and solutions including infrastructure, security, risk mitigation, reports, flows, portals, interfaces, performance, data manipulation, APIs, storage and presentation (layers), interfaces and partner relationships.

· Develops solutions primarily for our GIS applications including infrastructure, security, risk mitigation, reports, flows, portals, interfaces, performance, data manipulation, APIs, storage and presentation (layers), interfaces and our partner relationships.

· Develops policies and procedures for and creates and monitors metrics for our GIS to maintain proper levels of performance, integrity and security.

· Collaborates with IT, the business and project teams, serving as a leader for GIS and related enterprise applications, participating in requirements, designs, development and testing as needed.

· Provides data extraction, manipulation, mapping, interpretation and management support for business and project teams of GIS related data to solve complex problems.

· Serves in a supporting role for other enterprise applications such as business intelligence, ticketing and line of business applications.

· Supports and collaborates with the IT Team on desired departmental and organizational outcomes.

· Mentors others in the organization to increase their proficiency with GIS solutions as needed.

Requirements:

· Three years of similar or related experience

· A college degree in a technical discipline or a master’s degree (non-technical) or non-technical degree plus professional certification

· ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise and SQL expertise required

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Strong organizational and analytical skills

· Ability to successfully multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines

· Self-motivated and capable of working collaboratively

We coordinate and process permits for on-location motion picture, television and commercial production under contract to an ever-increasing roster of public-sector clients in the Los Angeles region. All permits are issued by the authority of and in accordance with the policies of each client jurisdiction.

We function differently than the typical film office or film commission. Most such entities are publicly-funded government agencies focused on promoting their regions to the film industry. FilmL.A. was created when the City and County of Los Angeles decided to privatize their film permit offices, allowing more flexibility in providing services to production companies and local communities.

Although FilmLA is funded primarily by permit coordination fees paid by production companies, ongoing community relations is a key component of the service we provide. We work to strike a balance between the needs and interests of the entertainment industry and the neighborhoods affected by on-location production.
