The Lead Mechanical Engineer at Aqua-Chem is responsible for the success of the mechanical part of installations. Within the project team, the Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the engineering and analytical substantiation from the concept to (the supervision of) the elaboration).

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm
Location: On-site; Knoxville, TN

Pay Range: Dependent on Experience

Essential Duties:
Design
  • Devising, elaborating / adapting and recording designs for installations, modules and or options using CAD system.
  • Drawing up (basic) calculations and technical specifications.
  • Testing and checking the design for compliance with specifications, manufacturability and standardization principles.
Guidance
  • Aligning the design with and answering technical questions from sales, the customer and production.
  • Checking the work carried out on project scope (project documentation) and planning.
  • Supplying technical work descriptions of the installations.
  • Answering technical questions related to assembly.
  • Provide support in solving during site assembly.
Organizing
  • Taking care of layouts, hydraulic profiles, PFDs, P&IDs, Pipe routings, Basic Civil designs and basic steel structure designs
  • Ensuring technical coordination and consultation between the various engineering disciplines and Project management.
  • (Have) requested test material from customers and make agreements about and coordinate the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).
Information Management
  • Reviewing the mechanical part of contract documents, tender documentation and quotations.
  • Preparation of material requests for purchase.
  • Drawing up Datasheets, Supplier Document Requirement Lists (SDRL) and Inspection & Test plan (ITP).
  • Drafting, checking and releasing bills of materials and processing articles in the PDM system.
  • Request the list of spare parts, assembly hours, engineering hours and prices of components.
Reporting
  • Registering the hours, schedule and material budgets.
  • Assess and evaluate the time schedule and material budgets.
  • Processing subsequent calculation data and analyzing the differences.
  • Respond to deviations from budgets and planning and propose suggestions for improvement.
Other
  • Provide relevant information to the transport department.
  • Participate in project meetings, both internally and externally at customers and suppliers.
  • Performing all activities that can reasonably be required of him.
Communication
  • Discuss the progress of the work and reports with Project Manager.
  • Exchanging information, discussing work assignments with project team members regarding size, price and delivery time.
  • Discussing possible assignments and quotations, offered components and deviations from the specifications with potential clients.
  • Communicating with purchasing, production, suppliers and end users. Responsibility • Drafting, distributing and monitoring the schedules and reports.
  • Administration of more and less work and drawing up work budgets.
  • Check whether all necessary materials and equipment have been realized according to the agreement.
  • Execution of the work according to set requirements.
  • Compliance with safety, health and safety, environmental and quality regulations of the employer, relation and client / customer.

  • Independently perform tasks within the project budget and schedule.
  • Calling in an external supplier.
  • Making purchases that are in accordance with the powers matrix.
  • The approval and/or rejection of products.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, preferred
  • Currently have PE or working towards PE certification is a plus
  • Previous engineering experience related to product design, manufacturing engineering or related experience required.
  • 3 years of job-oriented experience
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, standards and regulations.
