High School Teacher (Special Education)

Southern Arizona Community Academy, a small alternative charter high school, is seeking a dynamic, student centered, High School SPED Director/Teacher to join our SACA team to serve both:

· An established brick and mortar school setting (SACA Onsite) and its dedicated faculty

· SACA Eagles Online School

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and run IEP and 504 meetings

• Schedule annual and tri-annual review meeting for each special education student.

• Plan and implement instructional skill development in assisting students according to each IEP.

• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to modify curriculum as needed and provide motivation and assistance to students.

• Must have keen awareness of accommodations, intersessions, and modification options.

• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing and report each semester to parents.

• Teach in an Alternative Charter School in a library setting

• Work one-on-one with students in individualized/personalized instruction

• Use the digital curriculum created by Schools Personalized Learning Platform (SchoolsPLP) or a printed version with teacher input/design

• Be passionate about teaching Reading, Literature, and Writing

• Develop and Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and administration

• Assume leadership/sponsorship of at least one student activity/club/sport

• Maintain the health and safety of all students

Qualifications/Expectations:

· Organization skills are a must as the successful candidate will be managing multiple and theirs IEPs or 504s and have the capacity to maintain full compliance with state and federal regulations in all aspects of IDEA, Section 504 and ADA is vital to the position.

· Leadership ability to fully implement and coordinate the IEP process is critical to the position. The candidate must be able to manage multiple students, IEPS, parents and staff. Experience in the classroom/group setting.

· Current Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP)

· Team player with colleagues, administration, staff, and parents

· Adhere to SACA Mission, established curriculum, procedures, and grading policies

· Understanding of the academic and personal needs of alternative students or willingness to learn

· Motivated to create and present engaging lessons/activities to supplement established digital curriculum

· Strong classroom management skills

· Ability to build rapport with students

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong leadership qualities
