The Plumber reports to the Trades Supervisor and is a key support position for maintaining the physical plant of the school.
Specific Duties Include:
- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of general plumbing components including toilets, urinals, faucets, hose bibs and drains. Familiarity with geothermal systems a plus
- Responsible for maintaining certain physical plant repair center information in TMA database including input/closing of daily work orders, input of preventative maintenance and reporting
- Some supervision of external contractors
- Responsible for procuring and maintaining plumbing supplies
- Responsible for adherence to safety regulations and practices of facilities staff
- Responsible for maintaining comprehensive records of work performed
- Responsible for maintaining the Woodward Academy assigned vehicle and its contents
- Other duties as assigned by the Trades Supervisor, Assistant Director of Facilities-Operations, and/or the Facilities Director
Required Skills:
- Ability to successfully work independently, unsupervised and exercise self-discipline
- Service oriented problem-solver who is able to successfully work with diverse individuals in an educational environment, excellent customer service skills are a must.
- Ability to analyze situations to determine if the work should be performed internally or via contractors.
- Able to lift 60 lbs., perform physical arm and shoulder tasks, work in confined spaces, and work in inclement weather.
- Must have the ability to climb step ladders and extension ladders
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- 5+ years of “hands-on” plumbing experience
- Journeyman license required; master plumber license preferred
- Back Flow Preventer Testing Certification a plus. Certification will be required upon employment.
- Current valid Georgia Driver’s license
The Plumber position is a non-exempt, full time, twelve month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. EOE
