Search all of our job openings on our career portal.Facilities Maintenance MechanicPosition SummaryVirgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as Maintenance-Mechanic. If you join us in this position, you will assist in the Facilities Maintenance for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program.

This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills.This is a Full-time position at ouroperations site in beautiful Mojave, California. Your Mission: Repair production machines and equipment (CNC Machines, Winding Machines, ASC Ovens, Forklifts, Thermotron Chambers, Compressors and Vacuum Systems).Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul of mechanical systems like pumps, chillers, and gear boxesHVAC maintenance and repairProvide preventative maintenance tasks as assignedComplete maintenance reports as part of PM schedule and as neededClean equipment after repairs are completedApply and communicate preventative measures to the building and to Supervisor and reduce risk of future problemsFix potential safety hazards to prevent site issuesAbility to work long shifts, overtime, or weekends as requiredMust be able to operate company vehicles and/or equipmentHelp Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better placeConstantly learn new thingsand share them with your team membersPerforms other duties as assigned What you bring: If you want to join us, youd better have all of theseHigh school diploma or GEDCertifications or similar within aerospace, aviation or automotiveGraduated from a technical college or other recognized apprenticeship5+ years experience in equipment maintenanceAbility to trouble shoot equipment issues and communicate verbally and in writing how the issue was resolvedKnowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical repairExperience with CNC, lathe, press break, tube bender, mills, etc.Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environmentDriven, highly motivated, and committed to improvementMust be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when neededMust be able to stand for extended periods 8 hours minimumMust be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spacesPhysically able to handle items weighing up to 25lbs (unassisted)Valid CA drivers license required with clean driving record.Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space.Ability and desire to perform in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement, inter-team communication skills, and attention to detail.Must be able to provide proof of US-approved Covid-19 full vaccination status, unless otherwise exempted by an approved reasonable medical or religious accommodation from Virgin Orbit. and you should probably have a bunch of these, too.Bachelors Degree in a relevant fieldHVAC installation, maintenance, and repair experienceSelf-Starter and ability to be successful with minimal supervisionMust be hands on person willing to do anythingSelf-motivated and works well within a team atmosphereCertifications or similar within aerospace, aviation or automotiveGraduated from a technical college or other recognized apprenticeshipAbility to thrive as a one person team.Ability to add something unique and positive to our team.Generally high level of all-around awesomeness.ITAR RequirementsTo conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S.
