  • Diagnose and repair problems involving building systems, equipment, furniture, fixtures, and healthcare equipment.
  • Apply advanced knowledge in at least one trade area, such as electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing.

  • Occasionally perform groundskeeping duties, including snow removal, mowing, and planting.
  • Participate in Lutheran’s Quality Assurance Performance Improvement efforts and contribute to improved resident outcomes.
  • Follow required safety procedures, attend required in-service training, and perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of relevant maintenance experience.
  • The position may involve exposure to heat, cold, dampness, heights, mechanical vibration, noise, and confined work areas.
  • Advanced knowledge of at least one maintenance trade, with demonstrated electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas—plumbing, HVAC, and life safety—or demonstrated skill in a certified trade.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, maintenance tools, safety procedures, troubleshooting, and electronic recordkeeping.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and help develop less-experienced employees.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in changing weather and environmental conditions.
  • The position may involve exposure to heat, cold, dampness, heights, mechanical vibration, noise, and confined work areas.
  • Continual mobility, crouching or bending at the knees, repetitive finger movements, and in-person or telephone communication are required.
  • Frequent driving, balancing, climbing, grasping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, standing, stooping, turning, twisting, and close visual work are required.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift approximately 50 pounds during typical work activities and up to 100 pounds when required.
  • Must be able to safely use hand and power tools, bench tools, testing equipment, ladders, vehicles, groundskeeping equipment, and required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the campus and drive Lutheran vehicles when needed.
  • Flexible scheduling and occasional overtime may be required for snow removal, projects, emergency response, or other operational needs.
