Garbage Truck Driver

Experience:                 No requirement. 2 years preferred.

Education:                  No requirement. High School or equivalent preferred.

Schedule:                    8-hour shifts (with some overtime) Monday to Friday 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Some Saturdays as needed.

Pay Rate:                    $18.00 - $27.00  (paid bi-weekly)

Summary of Duties:   Operate Westside Waste Management vehicles/equipment in the collection, disposal, and diversion of solid waste, recycling, and organics in accordance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Requirements

1.      CDL (A or B) state driver's license with an insurable record, DOT Health Card, and pass a DOT Drug Screen.

2.      Ability to work well with others (coworkers, management, and customers) and have a good/pleasant attitude.

3.      Ability to effectively communicate and work with customers with questions or concerns about our service.

4.      Proficient in the English language; reading, writing, and speaking.

5.      Basic understanding of application software usage (phone and SoftPak tablets).

6.      Attendance is an essential job function.

7.      Punctual, reliable, professional.

8.      Ability to perform physical labor. Pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs, lifting, walking, climbing, and sitting.

9.      Ability to follow directions.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.      Operate vehicles/equipment safely to collect and properly dispose of solid waste.

2.      Must observe proper OSHA and DOT guidelines while working.

3.      Must maintain a clean and safe work environment, including vehicles/equipment.

4.      Maintains and inspects vehicles/equipment daily.

5.      Report accidents and incidents to supervisor immediately.

6.      Other tasks as assigned.

Working and Environmental Conditions

1.      May be exposed to vibration when driving vehicles.

2.      May be exposed to outside weather conditions.

3.      May be exposed to toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel.

4.      May be required to work weekends.
