Credit Analyst
Banking Industry, Mortgage Lending, Queens, NY
Position Summary:
To evaluate and determine the eligibility of loan applications. Including, analyzing and verifying financial documentation, loan applications, evaluating risks, and making loan eligibility decisions. The Credit Analyst will work as part of the loan review team to analyze all types of credit, including and especially the largest and most complex types of loans. They assess the appropriateness of Bank risk ratings and management’s administration of loans under review. The Analyst is well-versed in financial statement analysis, banking, and credit risk rating principles. They prepare work papers and reports and may occasionally assist the Loan Review Manager in presenting reports to management or committees.
Responsibilities:
Review all pertinent credit and financial information, including business and personal financial statements, spreads, cash flow analyses, reports services, credit bureaus and other sources as applicable. Capable of handling the most complex and interlocking relationships.
Participate in internal loan review engagements of the lending units.
Properly risk-rate each loan/lending relationship reviewed.
Analyze loan reporting and tracking systems and prepare appropriate comments. Determines the need for a more thorough investigation or additional information and conducts such additional procedures, as appropriate.
Properly evaluate credit administration processes.
Prepare Loan Review work papers and review work papers of other officers assigned to reviews under his/her lead.
Ensure that all Loan Review, electronic and hard-copy, files are kept current and orderly.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or Business from a four (4) year college or university,
Minimum of one year or more related experience and/or training in credit analysis or lending.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Familiarity with a variety of industry analyses, particularly in specialty lines of business (i.e., real estate, leasing, mortgage warehousing, HOA, etc.).
Advanced ability to spread large, complex financial statements and tax returns and complete cash flow forecasting.
Advanced ability to make pertinent comments relating to the current credit risk as reflected by the spread.
Knowledge of lending regulations and credit policies.
Experience in reviewing and/or analyzing both Residential and Commercial Real Estate Loans.
Understanding of tax returns, credit reports, and credit reporting agencies.
Strong computer skills
Good communication skills.
Full-time, in-office position.
Local Candidates preferred. No relocation assistance is available.
