Job Summary The Marketing & Communications Specialist II position involves overseeing the City's social media accounts, website, and digital marketing. Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining digital campaigns that further the City's strategic objectives, ensuring communications are branded with up-to-date materials City-wide, and developing content in multiple formats for a variety of mediums and platforms. A Marketing & Communications Specialist II is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing marketing and communications strategy and public relations work for the City of Gahanna.

The duties will include planning, streamlining, communicating, owning, and analyzing a variety of marketing information to facilitate communication distributed to employees, citizens, and the community. Starting Salary Range: The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($63,169.60 - $77,376.00 annually). Candidates will start at the minimum of the range unless their skills, experience, education or other factors exceed the qualifications for the position.

Essential Job Functions Formulate, write, edit, and coordinate public relations, communication, and marketing activities of the City. Develop and manage effective content strategies for the City's website and social media. Identify channels of promotion and distribution for City content based on available marketing data.

Conduct market research through studies or surveys to target specific groups, determine the effectiveness of marketing activities, recommend enhancements, or refine marketing strategies. Respond to internal staff inquiries to ensure web-based content across various social media channels meets the marketing team standards and engages with the target audience. Coordinate, develop, and create video and other digital media content via multiple production and delivery methods.

Manage and maintain a consistent look and feel through all marketing and communications materials, social media, and website content to ensure consistency in branding, style, and messaging. Provide editorial support, responsible for proofing internal and external messaging before publication, through department-approved proofing protocols and procedures. Report on and conduct marketing and business development research as needed and required.

Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education, training, and experience listed below provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job's essential functions. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with major coursework in marketing, public relations, journalism, or appropriate field of study or associate degree in coursework listed above and at least 4 years of related experience.

Licensure or Certification Requirements: Current and valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna. Important Job Functions Serves as project manager on various multi-departmental projects. Designs, writes and edits a variety of marketing material including brochures, flyers, newsletters, reports, website and social media content, and other promotional material on behalf of the City.

Coordinates the maintenance of the library of stock photos and videos for use on City social media and online accounts. Logistical, marketing, and/or communications support of special events and programs. May deliver presentations on behalf of the City.

Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge Of: Principles and best practices related to the major social media platforms. Project management, market research, and other research methods, and techniques.

iPhone or other smartphone functionality for graphics, still photos, and video. Knowledge of the development and implementation of marketing strategies. Knowledge of conducting or analyzing market research through studies and surveys to make recommendations.

Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary. Applicable state, federal, and local ordinances, laws, rules, and regulations, including Ohio Public Records law. All computer applications and hardware related to the performance of the job's essential functions.

Understand how social media, City communications, and marketing reflect on the City as a whole, professionalism, and best practices, including, but not limited to public records policies. Advanced knowledge of communication methods and procedures. Skill in: Ability to multi-task duties and meet applicable deadlines with limited oversight.

Managing, maintaining, and tracking social media developments and implementing City accounts where a new platform would be an asset. Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with minimal direction. Accurately proofread, edit, and update copy with accompanying grammar, punctuation, and spelling knowledge.

Communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, and having the ability to speak before groups of people. Delivering effective oral presentations to a variety of target audiences. Preparing clear and concise documents, correspondence, and other written materials.

Ability to: (Mental and Physical Abilities) Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, city officials, other government agencies, social agencies, civic organizations, and the public. Work outside of non-standard business hours including evenings, weekends, or holidays to assist with special events. Present information clearly and in an interesting manner, both verbally and in writing to various audiences.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal office environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust. The incumbent's working conditions are typically moderately quiet.
