Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Production Supervisor - Powder Coating/Metals 

Founded by the Channell family in 1922, Channell is a global designer, manufacturer, and seller of outside plant infrastructure equipment. The markets served by Channell are Telecommunications, Municipalities, Internet Service Providers, Wireless, Water, Power, and CATV among others. Major product lines include a complete line of thermoplastic and metal fabricated enclosures, fiber optic cable connection and management systems and high performance below grade vaults. 

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Production Supervisor- Powder coating/Metals is responsible for following production schedules, production reporting, training, positioning subordinates for maximum productivity, processing employee performance reviews, maintains good housekeeping practices and ensuring that all company policies and safety rules are followed on any shift positioned. Supervisor is responsible for complete powder coating operation on all shifts. 
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
• Directs department to ensure on-time production for internal customers 
• Maintains quality through visual inspection of conveyor line, washer, oven, titration, spray booth and packaging area. 
• Supervises and coordinates daily activities of personnel engaged in the powder coating of parts and components in accordance with print specifications and quality standards 
• Fosters professional growth and development of all personnel and promotes group unity, efficiency and effectiveness by providing technical training and support-assistance to problem-solving and continuous improvement activities 
• Use of test equipment as a minimum will include: Cross Hatch adhesion test, Mill thickness checker, Ground meter, cure test equipment 
• Learn and understand the current standard operating procedures that are in place, evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, and work to continuously develop/modify new standard operating procedures for increased efficiencies in finishing practices 
• Formulates recommendations to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, as well as for improvement of working conditions, the workforce, and overall operational efficiency and effectiveness 
• Supervisor is responsible for maintaining department supplies and materials, including Powder Coat materials 
• Conducts in-process inspections and verification's of finished parts to ascertain continuous part and process quality conformance 
• Performs other duties as required 
 

ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: 
• Understanding of company organizational structure 
• Understanding company policies and procedures 
• Production reporting procedures 
• Proper use of ground tester 
• Emergency shutdown/evacuation procedures 
• ISO compliance requirements 
• Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules 
• Proper use of all safety equipment: safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest/uniform 
• Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) 
• ISO sections pertaining to the position

• Pallet jack

• Factory air supply

QUALIFICATIONS: 
• 3-5 years manufacturing experience with associate’s degree preferred 
• 3 years supervision experience with good leadership and communication skills preferred 
• Must be familiar with all standard Powder Coating testing procedures 
• Must be a process driven change agent with extensive background in continuous improvement practices 
• Must have strong decision-making skills that are supported by data collection, data analysis, and statistical process control expertise 
• Must have good mechanical knowledge, hands on skills and computer skills 
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 
• High school diploma or equivalent 
• Capacity to work overtime as needed when needed
