Primary Function

Air Traffic Control (RAPCON) Specialists shall issue ATC clearances, advisories, traffic information in IFR and VFR to all aircraft in direct support of Coalition and host nation military units twenty-four hours a day. Controllers are required to separate and sequence, initiate clearance and control instructions, monitor and operate radios, accept and initiative manual/automated handoffs, scan radar display, pass vital weather information, coordinate with outside agencies such as host nation operations, Baghdad ATC agencies with the designated airspace assigned by the Iraq Civil Aviation Administration and actively support and uphold the Company's stated vision, mission, and values.

Responsibilities

• Radar Position (APPROACH/ARRIVAL CONTROL)
• Ensure separation, sequencing, initiate clearance and control instructions.
• Monitor and operate radios.
• Accept and initiate automated/manual handoffs.
• Assist other radar positions in coordination as needed.
• Scan radar display.
• Pass vital weather information to airborne aircraft.
• Coordinate with outside agencies for use of various airspace within Baghdad designated FIR airspace.
• Issue information and advisories to arriving, departing and enroute aircraft and monitors the flight progress of aircraft
• Other duties assigned by management.
• Radar Assistant (RADAR FLIGHT DATA)
• Receives, posts and relays progress reports and posts information to Flight Data Strips, boards, charts and tactical situation maps.
• Correlates flight progress strip information.
• Ensures computer entries are completed on instructions or clearances issued or received, ensures strip marking are completed on instructions or clearances issued or received.
• Coordinate with outside agencies on the arrival and departure sequence.
• Perform handoffs/handovers when instructed by senior RADAR position.
• Other duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements

• Must be a US citizen with a valid tourist passport.
• Must possess a valid US-issued driver's license.
• Six or more years' certified experience.
• Ratings must be relevant, prefer no breaks in RAPCON more than five years.
• Must have an ATCS certificate/ratings (ATC RADAR Rating).
• Current Class II FAA Medical Certificate/FAA Form 8500-9. Must be valid for six or more months upon hire date.
• Successful completion of a FAA, DoD, or ICAO air traffic control course.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates Degree.
• Experience working with USAF and other Military aircraft where air carrier and general aviation aircraft were also part of the operation.
• Experience with helicopters and in a mixed-use environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

• Able to work in extreme weather conditions for moderate periods of time.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to stand for long periods.
