Position Summary 

This position provides frontline support to our employees for HR-related inquiries and performs various tasks related to HR activities and programs supporting Leatherman. It will also assist the HR team in a diversified workload with professionalism and discretion.

Essential Functions 

  • Assist with administrative duties for the department and serve as a main point of contact for employee questions.
  • Maintain, organize, and upload data into a variety of human resources information systems.
  • Assist the HR team with programs, tasks, and projects as needed.
  • Continuously learn the latest HR best practices to improve workplace efficiency.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence.
  • Support internal and external inquiries and requests related to the HR department.
  • Fosters a collaborative spirit that allows for excellent cross-functional work.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and company policy.
  • Conduct special projects as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience: 

    • High School diploma or GED required.
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business or in process of completing degree preferred.
    • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of HR functions and best practices or has taken certification or classes a plus.
    • Must be a self-driven multi-tasker.
    • Handle confidential information ensure our employees and company's privacy.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
    • Strong clerical and computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Must be willing to work onsite a minimum of 40 hours a week preferably 8am to 5pm (this includes two paid ten-minute breaks, one 60-minute unpaid lunch, flexibility with schedule may be considered for schooling).

    Requirements:   

    • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Note: Eligibility to work in the United States must be provided if selected for hire.
    • Pre-employment background check and drug screening is required.

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently stands and walks; talks and hears, uses hands to finger, handle, grasp, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally sits; climbs; twists, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.  

    Working Conditions/Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment, and is frequently exposed to production environment. Work area is well lit and air-conditioned. All employees are expected to adhere to Company safety policies and wear personal protective equipment when exposed to work areas or performing tasks where it is required. Position will be in-office based in our Portland, OR factory.
