This position is currently eligible to telework. This position will be required to work in the office at least 1 day per week. This may change based on business needs. There will be some travel required within the State of Washington.

** Please Note: The incumbent must live within 45 miles of the assigned duty station at the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board Headquarters (HQ) building in Olympia due to the need to respond to emerging issues both in the HQ Building and at the State Data Center. **

The WSLCB Information Technology Services Division is announcing an exciting opportunity for Network Administrator (IT Network & Telecommunications - Journey) atOlympia, WA. This position reports to the Infrastructure Supervisor in the WSLCB's Information Technology Services Division (ITSD).

This position is part of the Infrastructure Unit within the Operations Section of the Information Technology Services Division of the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB).

In this role, you will serve as the LCB network, cloud infrastructure, Active Directory and Exchange administrator, working primarily to serve as the Infrastructure Network and Security administrator. This includes, WAN/LAN network design and administration, network security, Exchange account administration and Active Directory administration. You will also perform installation, maintenance, quality assurance, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and add/remove/update user account information. You will also be required to find security gaps by performing routine audits of hardware and software entities on the network and closing those gaps.

Duties

Some of the duties you will perform are:

  • Serve as the network administrator, resolving medium complexity problems and escalating complex problems to the Infrastructure Lead.
  • Support and act as a resource for the LCB network architecture, including network hardware, software, and configurations.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot server hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software products.
  • Administer and support the Active Directory environment including activities such as maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain all network hardware, software and configurations, including firewalls, routers, switches, and Site to Site VPN.
  • Monitor and test network performance; proactively develop and communicate network performance statistics and reports.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of simple to medium complexity network problems identified by end users and recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Research, draft, manage and adhere to policies and procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network data.
  • Perform network system backups and recovery.
  • Work independently, with the Infrastructure Team, and/or with vendors to create optimal network design topologies and configurations; document and maintain up to date versions of approved network diagrams.
  • Perform routine audits of hardware and software entities on the network to identify security vulnerabilities.
  • Analyze network monitoring, security, and vulnerability reports, developing mitigation strategies for vulnerabilities identified in assigned functional areas; proactively report on status of mitigations.
  • Administration Provide Active Directory and Exchange
  • Work independently, with the Infrastructure Team, and/or with vendors to create optimal designs for cloud services architecture.
  • Manage and maintain AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Experience for required qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment and educational experience. See below for how you may qualify.

Option 1:

Six (6) years of recent professional experience in maintenance of network and telecommunication environments, in Cisco suite of products and working knowledge of routing protocols and services required to support networking infrastructure. Experience includes but not limited to, analyzing, designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining wired and wireless networking infrastructures.

Option 2:

An Associate's degree in Computer Science, IT or closely related field; OR completion of two (2) year accredited vocational training program in IT or related program.

AND

Four (4) years of recent professional experience as listed above.

Option 3:

A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, IT or closely related field.

AND

Two (2) years of recent professional experience as listed above.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of network security and securing local / wide area networks at the perimeter with client compliance validation, dynamic VLAN assignment with mitigation strategies with RADIUS / LDAP integration.
  • Knowledge administering Cisco equipment, this experience can run concurrently with other required qualifications and experience.
  • Knowledge of network tools, cable testers, and methods to recognize and identify network and security issues.
  • Knowledge and proven demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, monitoring, and supporting hardware (servers/systems), and software applications.
  • Experience in the implementation of network and security software solutions; demonstrated knowledge of administering and maintaining network, server and PC operating systems for premium performance.
  • Knowledge and proven demonstrated experience managing and maintaining AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).
  • Knowledge and proven demonstrated experience managing and maintaining AWS EC2 instances.
