Communications Manager

The Communications Manager, a new role at LEO, is a rare and unique opportunity to create high-quality, engaging content that conveys not only LEO's internal voice, but also its clients’ messages. The Communication Manager’s primary role is to write, create, collaborate, and execute projects and initiatives that create business development opportunities for LEO Events. Other responsibilities include advertising, departmental project management, trade shows, conference registrations, and sponsored webinars. This role is also a key contributor to the brand and marketing efforts of one of LEO's philanthropic organizations, the Jay Uiberall Foundation. The ideal candidate possesses strong writing, communications, and project management skills.

The position is required to work from a LEO office 5 days/week. A hybrid work schedule may be possible following a successful 6-month period.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Manage content creation and communication strategies
o Complete writing projects, meet deadlines, and follow content requirements in terms of style, brand, and project specifications
o Write clear, concise copy with a consistent LEO Events voice
o Collaborate with Creative, Marketing, Production, Event Operations, Digital, and Meeting Services departments to support programs and events
o Stay up to date on industry trends to support content development
o Write and provide support for blog posts, articles, social media posts, email campaigns, and other relevant digital content
· Create content for company’s trade-show marketing campaigns and pre-/post-show marketing activities, which includes pre-/post-show marketing collateral
· Support VP, Marketing, to develop marketing and advertising strategies
o Work with MarCom Coordinator and the creative department to create an annual marketing communications calendar and measure ROI of marketing initiatives
· Develop strategy and create content to support communications and marketing efforts, including award nominations and submissions, website content, emails, internal/external newsletters, and blog posts
· Create content in support of the company’s CRM tool, HubSpot
o Use CRM tool to map customer journey and create automated communications
o Create dashboards and reports for company executive teams
· Manage sponsored webinars and speaking engagements
o Research ideas for webinars and speaking engagements; create an annual Speaker Deck with content ideas
o Submit company representatives for consideration for industry speaking opportunities
o Coordinate speakers, scheduling, registration, and deck development
· Manage LEO Gives philanthropic initiatives and marketing efforts, including the Jay Uiberall Foundation
· Participate in a collective effort to deliver industry-leading results including occasional onsite support of event and production teams
· Supervise marketing internship program
· Handle other marketing and communications duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or relevant experience
· 5+ years' experience in marketing or the events industry
· Proven experience as a copywriter or related role
· Experience working with CRM tools, such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar platforms
Competencies:
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
· Love for the English language and all things grammar
· Eagerness to adhere to brand voice, tone, and style guidelines – and guide others
· Strong project and time-management skills
· Strong research skills
· Ability to work closely with creative team members, senior leadership, and key stakeholders
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
· Ability to travel up to 20% and willing to work nights and weekends, as needed
Environmental Conditions and Physical Demands:
Employee is required to spend a portion of time in a seated position looking at a computer screen in a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Employee is required to do some standing, bending, and walking and must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
