Medical Assistant Job Description
Medical assistants provide a variety of technical, clerical, receptionist, and patient care services under the supervision medical practitioners and managers. Medical assistants support practitioners and other members of health care team in a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. Medical assistants are essential to delivering high-quality patient care.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent,
- Current BLS certification at hire
- Intermediate computer proficiency
- Ability to successfully serve a variety of diverse customers in difficult situations
- Ability to provide service excellence, kindness, and compassion to all customers, including patients and other Derm Health team members
- Skill in developing and maintaining professional relationships
- Ability to prioritize work demands
- Ability to interpret and follow policies, procedures, and protocols
- Basic applied math skills, including calculations and conversions
- Proven record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and successful performance with past and present employers
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited medical assistant or service training program
- Associates Degree or higher
- At least one year of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact in both front and back office
- Experience working with an electronic medical record system
- A bilingual fluency (Candidate must pass a language proficiency examination provided by Derm Health prior to utilizing additional language skills in patient care encounters)
- Formal customer service training, conflict management training, and/or communication training
- Clinical experience within the past 6 to 9 months

· Assisting the Physician During Examinations and Procedures
· Explaining Medical Procedures to Patients
· Taking and Responding to Patient Messages
· Coordinating Patient Prescriptions with Pharmacies
· Collecting Laboratory Specimens
· Sterilizing Medical Instruments
· Cleaning the Clinic Office Space
· Submitting Medical Claim Forms
· Maintaining Patient Medical Records
· Updating Patient Files
· Scheduling Medical Appointments
· Stocking and Ordering Supplies
· Assisting with Front Desk Duties
· Coordinating with Insurance Companies
· Coordinating with Referring Medical Offices / Pathology Labs
· Writing Job Related Policies and Protocols
· Training other Employees in all aspects of job, as directed by Derm Health
