Firefighter Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and trained Firefighter to join our department. Our ideal candidate will have already passed training and is EMT certified. In collaboration with our team of firefighters, you will be responsible for protecting the community, responding to calls at all hours of the day. You will help put out fires and perform basic emergency medical care, and transport patients to the hospital when necessary. We also host community education programs and provide information on fire safety and tips on how to create a fire escape plan for their homes or businesses.
Firefighter Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls
- Connect hoses to truck, fire hydrants, or pumps
- Operate and drive a fire truck and other emergency vehicles
- Extinguish fires and retrieve and rescue occupants in burning buildings
- Provide medical assistance and care to patients
- Document all emergencies and provide notes for further investigations
- Maintain, clean, and repair all firefighting equipment, gear, and tools
- Train and participate in physical practice drills and activities
- Educate members of the community on fire safety and prevention
Firefighter Requirements and Qualifications
- High school degree or GED certificate
- Completion of Firefighter training academy
- Must meet all state firefighter training and certification standards
- Previous experience as a firefighter or in an apprenticeship or as a volunteer firefighter preferred
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Able to work in a fast-paced, intense environments
