Job Summary: As a Federal Firefighter, you will play a crucial role in preventing, controlling, and extinguishing fires on federal lands and properties. Your primary responsibility will be to respond to various emergencies, including wildfires, hazardous material incidents, and rescue operations. You'll work as part of a team to ensure the safety of individuals, properties, and natural resources, adhering to established protocols and employing specialized firefighting techniques.

• Respond promptly to fires, hazardous material incidents, and other emergencies to provide immediate assistance and containment
• Utilize firefighting equipment and techniques to suppress fires, protect structures, and prevent further damage
• Participate in search and rescue operations, extrications, and medical aid as required
• Conduct inspections of federal properties and assess potential fire hazards
• Educate communities and individuals about fire safety practices and procedures
• Develop and implement prescribed burns and fuel reduction activities to reduce fire risk
• Inspect and maintain firefighting equipment, vehicles, and tools to ensure they are in good working condition
• Conduct routine drills and training exercises to ensure readiness and proficiency in firefighting techniques
• Work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively to coordinate firefighting efforts and ensure everyone's safety
• Coordinate with other emergency response agencies and organizations to support integrated response efforts
• Maintain accurate records of emergency responses, incidents, equipment usage, and training activities
• Prepare reports and documentation related to emergency response and prevention efforts

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required
• Completion of a recognized firefighter training program or certification from a reputable firefighting academy is preferred
• Previous experience in firefighting, either in a volunteer or professional capacity, is desirable
• Experience in emergency response, hazardous materials handling, or emergency medical services is a plus
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record
• Basic Firefighter Certification (e.g., NFPA Firefighter I and II) is required
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification or higher is preferred
• Must meet established physical fitness standards, as firefighting is a demanding and physically challenging role
• Ability to pass a medical examination and maintain physical fitness throughout employment
