Job description

Overview
Microsoft Digital (MSD) builds and manages the critical products and services that Microsoft runs on. We boldly pursue big ideas that power transformational advances at Microsoft and for our customers, while helping Microsoft teams work smarter, faster, and more securely every day. Microsoft Digital employees have deep technical and business expertise, customer insights, and a clear point of view that comes from first-hand, large-scale experience with Microsoft and industry solutions. We are engineers, technology leaders and experts, digital transformation change agents, and customer advocates.
We have exciting opportunities for you to innovate, influence, transform, inspire, and grow within our organization and we encourage you to apply to learn more!
We are hiring a Service Engineer II to own administration and service management for Microsoft Fabric and Power Platform within the MSD M365 MultiTenant team. You will administer how Fabric and Power Platform are configured, governed, and operated across Microsoft's many internal tenants, with primary focus on Fabric. You will partner closely with software engineers to drive the automation, Microsoft Graph and admin API based tooling, and policy as code that enforces baselines, detects configuration drift, and keeps service health and risk visible at fleet scale. Secure by default operations are an expected part of the role.
This position is based at the Redmond campus with 3 days per week work in the office and 2 days per week work from home. Relocation assistance is available.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
  • You will administer Microsoft Fabric across many internal tenants: capacity and workspace governance, item and data access boundaries, sensitivity labels, and admin policy.
  • You will administer Power Platform across the tenant fleet: environments, DLP policies, connector governance, managed environment configuration, and admin policy.
  • You will define baselines, policy, and operational requirements for Fabric and Power Platform; partner with SWE to drive the automation and policy as code that implement them.
  • You will operate the Fabric and Power Platform admin surfaces: monitor service health, capacity, and risk signals; triage incidents and respond on call for what you own.
  • You will interface with Fabric, Power Platform, and partner teams on multitenant governance requirements and roadmap changes that affect the admin surface.
  • You will contribute to MSD M365 MultiTenant engineering practices: design review input, quality of telemetry, alerting, and incident response.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of professional service engineering experience operating production services at scale.
  • Hands on experience administering Microsoft Fabric and/or Power Platform at scale, including admin centers, admin APIs, and PowerShell based tooling.
  • Comfortable reading and contributing to automation code in PowerShell, Python, C#, or TypeScript, and partnering effectively with SWE owners of that automation.
  • Experience designing, instrumenting, and operating live services with on call ownership.
  • Secure by default operations: least privilege admin patterns and audit coverage as standard practice.
  • Experience in multitenant operations: enforcing baselines, detecting drift, and remediating across many tenants.
  • Experience in Fabric administration: capacity management, workspace governance, OneLake and Power BI tenant settings, sensitivity labels.
  • Working knowledge of Power Platform admin (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, environment and DLP policy).
  • Experience with Purview where it intersects Fabric or Power Platform data governance.
  • Experience with Geneva, IcM, Kusto, or comparable telemetry and live site tooling.
