Plant Mechanic

The Primary role of the 2nd Shift Plant Mechanic is to provide competent and effective electrical & mechanical maintenance support to the plant and facility operations in a safe manner. This position will report to the plant manager and work closely with additional maintenance staff, production supervisors and interdepartmental employees as needed.

The maintenance mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, adjusting and repairing plant machinery to meet industry standards while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies, including but not limited to USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, and local/state/federal government.

Essential job Duties

· Install, troubleshoot and repair processing equipment such as (conveyors, assembly, fillers, mixers,) (*Fryolators and refrigeration experience a plus)

· Diagnose problems, repair and replace parts, detect and replace defective items, test and make final adjustments for high speed production equipment

· Operate equipment such as forklifts, power loaders, and other appropriate equipment safely and effectively

· Responsible for startup checks of production and process equipment

· Maintain preventative & corrective maintenance log for all designated equipment

· Prevent and conduct emergency repairs

· Maintain safety first attitude towards self, others and equipment

· Writing Po’s for supply orders

· Work with contractors and vendors

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience working in a food processing facility

· Working knowledge of GMPs within a food manufacturing facility

· Ability to work well as part of a team and individually with minimal supervision

· Ability to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems

· Excellent knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, compressors, motors, controllers, pumps, conveyors, mixers, band saws and processing equipment.

· Ability to work flexible hours and ensure minimal machinery down time

· Welding a plus

· Refrigeration and cold storage experience a plus

· Ability to work, move and occasionally lift heavy equipment safely

· Basic computer skills including MS Excel, office, Outlook and Word.

· Reliable transportation

Salary is DOE and overtime should be expected as well as weekends when necessary.
