Shift: Swing Shift
A local beverage container and bottle recycling company is seeking a dependable Plant Mechanic to join its production team. This position supports the operation and maintenance of recycling and material-handling equipment used to process beverage containers in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Job Description
The Plant Mechanic is responsible for keeping plant and recycling equipment operating safely and efficiently throughout production. This position performs preventative maintenance, identifies mechanical issues, assists with repairs, and monitors equipment for proper operation. The ideal candidate has basic mechanical experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a safety-focused mindset.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain operation of the tote system during production shifts
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on plant and recycling equipment
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical and equipment issues
  • Monitor equipment for proper operation and identify potential problems
  • Recognize and understand equipment safety shutoffs and devices
  • Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures
  • Operate a forklift
  • Safely and efficiently use hand and power tools
  • Complete work orders and assigned maintenance paperwork
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards and company policies
  • Climb ladders and access catwalks as needed
  • Assist with general plant maintenance and repairs

Experience & Qualifications
  • Basic mechanical experience and mechanical aptitude required
  • Experience working with hand and power tools
  • Industrial, manufacturing, recycling, or production experience preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Ability to perform basic math, including addition and subtraction
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good time-management and organizational skills
  • Strong awareness of workplace and equipment safety
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to approximately 4 feet in height
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and walking on catwalks
  • Ability to work safely in an active recycling and production environment
