Job Summary
***Filling 2 Plant Maintenance Engineer Positions with the same work hours***
Position Purpose
To maintain and repair the physical plant and equipment. This is to include boilers and all heating related equipment. All HVAC equipment. All water cooled and air-cooled chillers, and related cooling systems. Provide assistance to the other facility departments as needed to support and maintain the day-to-day operations of the college. This position will drive college vehicles as part of the Facilities Staff.
Position Responsibilities
• To perform skilled maintenance and repair work on, heating/cooling plant, power equipment, boilers, generator, pumps, compressors, heaters and motors so that the facilities heating, cooling and emergency equipment will always be in working order.
• Provide the necessary materials for the ongoing preventive maintenance and the anticipated maintenance of physical plant equipment. Perform maintenance repairs when notified by work order or directly by your lead worker/supervisor.
• Responsible for the maintenance and repair of kitchen/coffee shop equipment.
Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)
• Boiler's License - First (1st) Class Engineer Grade C.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record. This is required in order to drive Campus Vehicles.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, including bending, stooping, lifting a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, reaching above the shoulder level, crouching, pushing and pulling on a frequent basis, climbing ladders and squatting.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions with various types of equipment and tools on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualifications (not expected to have to enter job)
• Possession of a Universal Refrigerant License.
• Working knowledge of operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems/repair.
• Ability to use tools for making general repairs including hand and power tools.
• Basic carpentry skills.
• Able to develop plans and estimate supplies and materials as well as read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
• Human relation skills and ability to deal with employees and the public to establish good working relationships.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of low-pressure power plant, safety standards and the ability to establish and maintain accident prevention practices.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work without direct supervision or direction.
• Positive problem-solving skills.
• The applicant (the employee) should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
