Position Summary

The primary role of the Employee Relations Advisor is to liaise between WellSpace Health Human Resources department and our employees. The Employee Relations Advisor will routinely perform site visits to discuss areas of concern with employees, provide feedback, and make recommendations to the Management, Leadership and Executive Teams. The Employee Relations Advisor will encourage an environment of Just Culture and ensure employees are given fair treatment and will assist in resolving issues between management, supervisors and employees.

Required Qualifications
  • AA/BS in Human Resources preferred or in a related field, minimum of three years of experience in a generalist setting specifically in employee relations or equivalent education, knowledge and experience.
  • Nonprofit Healthcare experience preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR or other human resources certification preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Exceptional customer service skills including active listening, problem solving, and the ability to remain professional in an emotional or stressful situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships.
  • A multi-tasker with strong ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and produce quality results on time with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent public presentation skills.
  • Deescalation Training; present and train.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Computer knowledge and skills, i.e., HRIS, payroll and Microsoft Office.
  • Commitment to HIPAA and ability to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
  • Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Advise supervisors and managers on coaching steps with regard to employee performance, conduct and behavior deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with management to create performance improvement plans, corrective action notices and steps in disciplinary process.
  • Workers' compensation administration- administer all workers' compensation forms, initiate and follow-up on all interactive processes, identify employee risk factors and safety issues, follow-up with workers' compensation insurance for all claims.
  • Process WellSpace Health leave of absence programs including, but not limited to, FMLA, PDL, CFRA, and Accommodations.
  • Review all terminations to ensure the actions comply with WellSpace Health policies and practices.
  • Process involuntary terminations.
  • Knowledgeable of WellSpace Health employment policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints.
  • Assist with employment and compliance audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work environment is characteristic of an office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and arms to reach. The employee is also required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using substances and/or not attentive to personal health and safety for themselves or their homes. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client's use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care. The employee may also be exposed to bodily fluids (blood, urine) and hazardous chemicals.
