Principal / Lead Technical Business Analyst

We are seeking a Principal / Lead Technical Business Analyst to serve as a senior, customer-facing leader driving enterprise analytics strategy and delivery. This individual will play a critical role in shaping Power BI and Microsoft Fabric–based analytics solutions, partnering directly with executive stakeholders across Finance and Operations.

This role goes beyond traditional business analysis. The ideal candidate will define analytics outcomes, influence executive decision-making, and lead delivery teams to produce scalable, high-impact data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Advisory & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, including VP, SVP, and C-level stakeholders
  • Lead discovery sessions, KPI alignment workshops, and analytics roadmap discussions
  • Translate business objectives into measurable analytics initiatives
  • Present insights, dashboards, and recommendations to executive audiences
  • Guide decisions related to analytics maturity, governance, and investment priorities

Analytics Strategy & Delivery Ownership

  • Own end-to-end analytics delivery from discovery through production rollout
  • Define success metrics, ROI models, and enterprise KPI frameworks
  • Establish standards for dashboard design, semantic models, and analytics delivery
  • Ensure alignment between business goals and scalable technical solutions
  • Partner with development teams and architects to deliver modern analytics platforms

Power BI Technical Leadership

  • Lead design and oversight of enterprise Power BI solutions, including:
    • Semantic data modeling
    • Advanced DAX calculations
    • Performance optimization and scalability
    • Governance, security, and deployment pipelines
  • Review and elevate the quality of deliverables from development teams
  • Drive executive-level storytelling and data visualization standards

Microsoft Fabric & Data Platform Strategy

  • Provide leadership across Microsoft Fabric workloads, including:
    • Lakehouse and data warehouse design
    • Data ingestion and Dataflows Gen2
    • Pipelines and orchestration
    • OneLake architecture
  • Ensure alignment between business requirements and platform architecture
  • Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and security teams

Governance, Adoption & Enablement

  • Define analytics governance frameworks (KPIs, data ownership, certification)
  • Promote data literacy and adoption across the organization
  • Support change management through training and executive enablement
  • Identify opportunities for optimization, AI-driven insights, and Copilot readiness

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor Business Analysts, consultants, and Power BI developers
  • Establish best practices and delivery standards
  • Support pre-sales efforts, including solution design and executive presentations
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical and stakeholder challenges

Required Qualifications

Leadership & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in business analysis, analytics consulting, or data advisory
  • Proven experience working with executive stakeholders in Finance and Operations
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence senior decision-makers
  • Experience leading complex, multi-phase engagements

Power BI Expertise

  • Advanced experience with Power BI, including:
    • Data modeling and semantic layer design
    • Complex DAX and performance tuning
    • Security (RLS/OLS) and deployment pipelines
    • Executive dashboard design and storytelling
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale Power BI implementations

Microsoft Fabric & Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric architecture and workloads
  • Deep understanding of scalable analytics platforms
  • Strong SQL and data querying skills
  • Knowledge of modern cloud analytics architectures
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications (Power BI, Fabric, Azure Data/Analytics)
  • Experience with AI-driven analytics or Copilot capabilities
  • Background in building analytics Centers of Excellence or operating models
