Retail Sales Associate

We're an established business modeled on the cat café concept, and we're in need of another cat nanny/caretaker with retail experience to continue our mission of providing the best environment for people to meet and engage with cats. Our high standards and passion for doing all we can for our visitors and kitties require positive-attitude staff.

Our caretakers participate in the care of the cats and their environment. They engage with the cats' visitors. They play host in the cat's home so that cats and visitors alike have a rewarding experience. They are involved in retail, customer engagement, socializing the cats, providing information, and tending to the needs of the cats and their home.

Caretakers help new cats integrate into their final foster home and can help potential adopters meet and engage with cats who are likely to be successful in an adoptive home. They help maintain the medical records of the cats so that a history of each cat is current and accurate.

Currently, this position could be part-time or fulltime and has hours which can work around your needs. If fulltime, we would bring onboard one person; if part-time, we would bring in two. You will be engaging more with people than you will with cats.

Requirements include the following:

• Compassion for cats, along with a basic knowledge on how to handle cats
• At least three years experience in retail sales, customer engagement, or cat care
• Communication skills and phone etiquette
• Competence in sales, cashier operations, and cash handling
• Ability to explain and guide visitors in the rules and requirements of visiting with cats
• Front desk and reception experience
• Confidence working with cats
• Ability to follow directions with and without supervision
• Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Ability to handle and use cleaning equipment effectively
• Ability to bend down and pick up toys, cats, and other items
• Ability to lift and carry at least 40 pounds
• Ability to respond positively to feedback
• Ability to address professional or personal concerns calmly with the perceived source of the issue, not a third party
• Ability to work well with others and maintain stamina under fast-paced conditions
• Proficiency in conducting yourself with a wholesome attitude and interacting positively with staff and visitors
• Competence in observing, documenting, and communicating issues that must be addressed with staff or management

This position takes love, patience, attention to detail, knowledge about the cats, and the presence of mind to recognize and even anticipate situations. We are an untraditional business, so expect some routine moments as well as moments of the unexpected; you must be able to reason before reacting.
