Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor of School Counseling to begin Fall 2026.
TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. This is a tenure-track faculty position. Primary duties will include teaching of face-to-face and online graduate courses. A reduced load (2-2 for the first 2 years plus research funds and conference travel money) is provided to new tenure-track hires to allow them to focus on conducting research and publishing in scholarly journals. Course release may be provided to Associate Professors based on research productivity. Duties also include mentoring students as well as providing service on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The mission of the College of Education is to prepare highly effective, culturally competent educational professionals who are equipped to understand and assume leadership positions in a global society.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in School Counseling or a related field. ABDs will also be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment. For those applying for the Associate Professor rank, scholarly output must be commensurate to rank. We strongly encourage candidates with a strong record of or potential for sustained publication in peer-reviewed journals (commensurate with experience) and seeking and/or securing external grant funding and have the ability to teach in areas that complement/strengthen our programs. State of Texas School Counselor Certification or equivalent preferred.

Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
