Description

Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center has an incredible opportunity for a Catering Sales Manager to join our team. This iconic Conference Center is being completely reimagined as the all new Tara Event Center! The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for growing existing business and developing new catering business through direct sales and cold calls. In this role, you will be responsible for generating new business, and collaborating on strategies to increase occupancy and revenue. The ideal candidate for this role is a highly motivated, energetic seasoned hospitality sales professional with local market experience and a passion for the social market segment.

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop and grow business through direct sales, and cold calls
  • Grow existing accounts and generate new business to exceed budget and maximize revenue and profits
  • Maintain existing account relationships
  • Formulate sales and marketing strategies for assigned hotel
  • Collaborate with sales team, revenue management, and Hotel General Managers to maximize profitability of properties while maintain guest satisfaction
  • Work closely with sales teams and Hotel General Managers at assigned hotels to assist in capturing group business in all segments including corporate transient business, with focus on weekday business
  • Assist in training and support of all sales associates and ensure performance in accordance with established hotel brand/Colwen sales standards
  • Ensure knowledge of and adherence to standards by the banquet team to achieve optimal sales service and client retention
  • Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to forecast revenue opportunities and create proactive strategies
  • Set sales strategies to achieve overall property goals for both rate and occupancy
  • Establish individual sales plans and goals for corporate and social catering events
  • Solid knowledge of market conditions and competitors, economic trends and supply and demand
  • Proactive solicitation of new business to achieve revenue goals
  • Meet monthly revenue goals for both room and banquet sales
  • Generate monthly banquet revenue forecasts
  • Achieve your personal sales call goals
  • Target accounts, markets or segments with proactive solicitation and account saturation
  • Monitor and analyze production of top accounts and evaluate trends in market
  • Negotiate food and beverage pricing, meeting room rental, and other services
  • Assist client in menu planning: coordinate food, beverage, room set up, and other services as requested by client
  • Detail banquet event orders, process client invoices (where applicable)
  • Create diagrams using iPlan/MeetingMatrix software (where applicable)
  • Compile sales reports as required in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all activity/transactions
  • Supervise the execution of banquet evens and monitor service provided by banquet staff
  • Participate in local networking organizations, community, and industry events while representing Colwen Hotels in a professional manner


Requirements

  • 2+ years sales and catering experience with a strong emphasis on food and beverage
  • Proven track record in social and corporate catering
  • Previous hotel experience preferred
  • Strong Leader of people
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent writing skills (grammar/punctuation/spelling)
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (experience with Delphi systems)
  • Familiar with common computer software programs
