Position: Cafeteria Manager

Status: Full-time, Exempt Department: Cafeterias Reports to: Director of Cafeterias

Management Responsibilities: Supervise a team of one to fifteen employees in a cafeteria setting. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Position Summary: The purpose of this position, Cafeteria Manager is to be proficient in managing the cafeteria department, maintaining established costs and quality standards to ensure superior service and maximize profits. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Riverside Refreshments, Inc., may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts depending on business necessities and client requirements.

General Responsibilities:

• Monitors the performance of the cafeteria through verification and analysis of customer satisfaction systems, financial reporting and initiates corrective actions as needed.

• Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations and investigates complaints and complies a corrective action plan as needed.

• Implements and maintains sales and marketing programs consistently to keep up with current trends for the cafeteria.

• Establishes and demonstrates proactive leadership in the manager role to ensure employee motivation, training, development, and moral meets company standards.

• Ability to work with the Director of Cafeterias and Human Resources wage and benefit administration, compliance, corrective action plans and employee relations issues in accordance with appliable employment laws.

• Ability to implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the cafeteria.

• Ability to maintain a secure environment, in order to protect the safety of employees, customers and the company.

• Ability to communicate efficiently to employees to include listening, exchanging ideas, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data in so that the communication is received and understood with clarity and purpose. When we communicate effectively, both the manager and employee feel satisfied.

• Directs and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in adherence to Riverside Refreshments, Inc., food standards for preparation, presentation, sanitation, and safety (meeting HACCP and OSHA guidelines) client and regulatory rules and procedures, as well as portion control.

• Responsible for following food safety and physical safety policies always, while utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Responsible to oversee employees adhere to cleaning schedules.

• Ensures timely meal service to all service areas. Manages serving of meals, responds to customers complaints in person at the time of the complaint or via email for electronically received complaints in a timely manner.

• Ability to report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner to management and Human Resources in accordance with company policy.

• Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.

• Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

• Ability to issue oral and written instructions as needed,

• Responsible for ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed, drawer audits are performed according to policy.

• Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.

• Required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell.

• Significant walking or other means of mobility.

• Cafeteria Manager must be flexible. May be required to cover all positions and job duties within the cafeteria.

Working Conditions:

• Generally, in an indoor setting; however, may subject to periodic outside activities and events.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be willing to work in a manufacturing environment/plant setting.

• Must comply with any dress code requirements.

• Must be able to work Monday – Friday 4:30 AM to 2:30 PM to include some weekends and holidays as business dictates.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups and customers or employees of organizations. Ability to work with all levels of employees and management.

Experience/Knowledge:

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent.

• 2 years of related work experience.

• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and cash-handling procedures preferred.

Certifications Required:

• Must have a valid Servsafe Certification
