RRC is seeking a talented Transmission Line Designer IV to help us build the future of both U.S. and Canada energy production from both remote work locations and any one of our U.S. or Canadian office locations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform transmission line design in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE (wood, steel, and concrete).
- Develop project drawings and documents including, but not limited to, plan and profiles, bill of materials, assembly details, foundation details.
- Interpret and apply RRC, client, and industry standards to independently execute projects/tasks, using sound judgment in design evaluation and criteria selection, with oversight and guidance from senior engineers.
- Ensure designs meet project specifications, design requirements, and company quality standards.
- Contribute to the creation, improvement, and implementation of internal design procedures and standards.
- Mentor and train designers/technicians and share technical expertise.
- Project site-visits are possible on occasion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Associates or technical school degree or combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in transmission line engineering design. Candidates with fewer years of experience may be considered if their background and interpersonal strengths align well with the role’s requirements.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE (wood, steel, and concrete).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of design codes, standards, and guidelines such as NESC, RUS, and ASCE 7, material procurement process, and construction work packages.
- Must be authorized for full-time work in the United States.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to lead a team of designers/technicians while working closely with the engineering staff.
- Perform foundation design using FAD Tools and/or LPile.
- Experience with transmission line voltages 345 kV and above.
- Experience with underground medium to extra high voltage line designs.
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD
