OB Coordinator

Job Summary: The Prenatal OB Coordinator at Osborn Family Health Center is responsible for coordinating services for Obstetrical patients and reports to the Director of Nursing.
The OB Coordinator serves as a liaison between the patients and provider.
Summary of Accountabilities:
- Fluent in Spanish/English
- Always maintains strict HIPAA compliance.
- Coordinate the new patient intake process for obstetric patients
- Meet with all Prenatal Patients at their initial intake visit and discuss all lab testing as well as Maternal Fetal Medicine testing and ultrasounds
- Ensures Initial Prenatal Bloodwork is completed
- Tracks all Integrated Screening bloodwork
- Contact patients with test results
- Assist providers during routine obstetrical office visits as needed
- Helps coordinate education on nutrition, HIV testing, breast feeding, etc.
- Provides vaccine education in pregnancy
- Coordinates care for Gestational Diabetics and work with the pharmacy team to ensure that patients are provided glucometer and testing supplies
- Provide contact information for nutritional counseling and confirm appointment for high risk clinic
- Coordinates care and monitor charts timely injections for patients with history of preterm delivery
- Provides information on Rhogam injection and administration
- Acts as liaison between patient and provider to prenatal questions
- Schedules all induction, C-sections
- Coordinate patient care with hospital
- Responsible for monthly OB report tracking of deliveries
- Assist with other duties as determine by OB/GYN Nurse Manager and/or Director of Nursing
Minimum Certifications, Registry and/or Licenses Required: Certified Medical Assistant
Minimum Degree Required and Experience Required:
Two years or more as an OB/GYN Certified Medical Assistant experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to be an OB Coordinator.
Skill Requirements:
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse patients, other employees, hospital departments, organizations, and the public. Strong inter-personal and communication skills. Ability to work independently, self-motivated, organized, detailed oriented and have problem solving skills. Good command of the English language both orally and written.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to see and hear within normal limits with or without use of corrective devices.
Motor dexterity of hands and fingers.
Ability to utilize proper body mechanics.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds (without assistance).
Ability to frequently bend, lift, move and pull. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
