Hiring for DevOps Engineer with Java @ Reston, VA
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong Java development experience to join our engineering team in Reston, VA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and DevOps processes while working closely with Java development teams.
The candidate should have hands-on experience with Java, AWS/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, Terraform, and Linux, along with a strong understanding of modern software development and deployment practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Java-based applications.
- Automate application build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
- Work closely with Java developers, architects, QA engineers, and infrastructure teams.
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications, services, utilities, and automation tools as required.
- Manage cloud infrastructure and application deployments in AWS or Azure.
- Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
- Configure and manage Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or similar CI/CD platforms.
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance-management solutions.
- Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, deployment, and production issues.
- Implement security, access controls, vulnerability management, and DevSecOps practices.
- Optimize application deployment processes for scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Participate in production support, incident management, and root-cause analysis.
- Maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java/J2EE and Spring/Spring Boot.
- Strong experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with AWS or Azure cloud services.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle, and automated build processes.
- Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting skills.
- Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed applications.
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Elastic Stack, Splunk, or CloudWatch.
- Strong understanding of Git branching, source control, and release-management practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
